A maintenance guy back in the day taught me first remove loose rust with a wire brush then heat and shock the hot parts with PB blaster. Most of it vaporizes but what doesn't get sucked into the threads by capillary action. I live in New England where the weather is unforgiving AND we use lots of road salt. IF I were able to extract the bleeder screw I would replace with a brand new one

Wish I had seen this before I snapped one off.🙁 But I would like to add... to prevent from ever having to struggle with a bleeder ever again, I put anti-seize compound on the threads of bleeders and all bolts.

Here's what you do . Clean it up , If you want to " shock it " hammer a smaller socket on there , or use vise grips . Apply low torque back and forth this creates friction at a micro level on the threads and while it takes patience it does work . If you want to use a torch get the small MAPP/Oxygen bottle one I've had one for decades and it's paid for itself many times over .. IF You apply heat only do a little at a time as the brake fluid gets warm and expands . I've been doing this shit for 45 years

Don't forget the special sockets that are designed to 'bite into' a rounded hex nut. Works similar to the undersize socket, but has a stronger bite. Hardware/auto stores have them

Thanks for the pro tip with inserting something in it - i actually never would have thought of that 🤔
Ive seen alot of people say heat the bleeder to red hot then shock it with cold water, and they swear it works - idk, never tried it.
Got a stuck bleeder, thats why I'm here - thanks for the video mate 👍

Thank you for a superb tip that saved my bacon. I had a seized bleed screw ( the last one to do ! ) Watched the clip and the third attempt it came loose. I could see it was going to snap off at any moment before this " It works " just have to watch out for the rubber brake hose with the heat

I think if I ever get these things out of the calipers, I am going to take a bit of time once a year, run around and loosen them all up. In half an hour I've done a decent inspection of them and if one or two are acting rebellious, swap the thing out. Already ordered a box of assorted sizes to fit different vehicles. So hopefully that will put a stop to this ridiculous round of intense surgery. Thanks for the video and all the great comments. Such a help.

I use a propane torch like in this video then I give it a blast for 10 seconds of loctite freeze and release spray. It freezes down to minus 43 degrees Celsius

A 6 point box end (or ring end of combo wrench) would be better,I think Sears used to sell 6 point combination wrenches in Craftsman brand years ago . Also a fancy "Bleeder Wrench" in 6 point.
Would Freeze Spray as sold by custodian suppliers help ? (made of refrigerant and sometimes used to remove chewing gum from rugs (hardens it so can be broken off without smearing)

heat break fluid is a bad idea best way is metal weld putty get the nearest sized socked fill it with the putty put it on the bleed screw let it set then unbolt it ive done this with lost locking wheelnuts
