On pads/wax, I think the modern ultra-thin (1mm to 2mm) surf pads give the best of both worlds: direct feeling and control. but maintenance free and insane traction. Only drawback is the price. No comparison with regular 5mm SUP pads.

For instance I use slater design for the central pad for max grip and 2mm cushion
"normal" tail pad + arch and kick, but with kick sides cut off for paddling speed on takeoff. (wide kicks drag)
between them, ultra-thin FCS T3-mid pads
In front of the front pad and on the sides, "wax mat" for the rubbery feel but with 1mm thinness
On the nose, hexatraction, weights nothing.

Jesse, you say you like Megyn Kelly but you should know that she gave a ridiculous softball interview with notorious PDF file James Alefantes when she was still on fox. I still can’t stand the site of her because of that.
