I got the massive Arthur C. Clarke short story compendium as a gift from my parents almost 25 years ago, and the contents were a massive influence on me such that I still remember & think about some part of one or another of these stories almost every day.  Back then I never would've imagined one day revisiting them in audio format at my leisure, but I think the fact of such a newly accessible interconnected future of sharing these visions would make Clarke himself feel proud & vindicated.

The first story was incredibly sad.

So many excellent stories in this collection, even though I've read or heard some of them before!
Have to now go searching for the previous four volumes!

Just the quality of prose...  TUVM 4 sharing 🥂

Thank you for the free audiobook and thumbs up.

Thank you for this!  May we hope for some of the other four of the set?? 🤞

Short stories are some of the best reading. I wish Hollywood would make some movies out of this trove of ideas.

1965 : “Our African country hadn’t made any progress in over 50 yrs—of course, that was the fault of the dictator who took power”…..( And, 60 yrs LATER, there STILL isn’t a single, successful African country….)

A very compelling first story.

Excellent stories! Thank you!!!!

Good memories surface here.

Dog Star = Heartbreaking….while, The Shining Ones is hilarious 🤣

Good upload
