The joys of Doz' secret childhood experimental phase.  Jolly good show!  73 OM

When you said "Where's the strippers", I thought we were in for something more entertaining than this electronics malarkey. Such a disappointment.

That was a fun episode! Thanks for making me laugh.

Nice bit of fun ☺️
Those modules don't have an internal spark gap so if you have the leads to far apart or unloaded the spark jumps internally destroying the module.
Sounded like you suspected that.
Great vid tho 👍

I spy with my little eye, the obligatory safety cup of tea. Great vid as always

My-oh-my; this video certainly creased me up.  Absolutely brilliant; loads of smiles 'n' laughs ...definitely a little bit of lightearted fun - which does us all a bit of good every so often.
Thank you Doz mate.  Phil.

Can you get ten of those high voltage generators and put them all in series? Someone ought to, but ElectroBOOM won't do it because it's not dangerous enough.

That book is fascinating, yes the 70's were most defiantly a different time.

In my younger day's, I worked for Telefusion and I do remember those EHT Meters, that you clipped onto the TV chassis and the other end went under the anode cap on the tube,  well I did that when I was sitting at my bench and the chassis lead came off and touched my knee, and you have probably guessed that I received a very nasty electric shock via my knee and I still have the burn scar to this day 😮.

Do you remember the Xray machines in the shoe shops, where you put your feet in the bottom and you could see your feet bones in the viewing screen and it would tell you if your shoes were too tight, I think Blunts used to have them.

Great video as always 👍

Very entertaining Doz, this was not a waste of time.

great vid Doz ... those devices dont like open circuits.... they have to be cracking away to be happy .. if you get another... find a blown automotive bulb... or blow one yourself .. and connect it to that.... creates a luvly arc inside the bulb... cheers... :)

Relieved to see you are wearing your safety trousers on. Carry on as you were... 😁

Sorry but that was funny as I jumped also! 😂 I never figured you for the mad scientist type! 😂 Really enjoyed this one!

Looking forward to the video with the small monitor. It looks like the guts of a Computar PSM-012 portable 4" monitor. I used to install CCTV systems and had one of these to set up the cameras - it has a composite video input, so you can plug a camera in while you're up the ladder instead of running back to the control room to see the picture. As I recall, it cost around £300 in 1992, but there's one on eBay for £30 at the moment. Sadly, I lent it to someone who never returned it.

Very entertaining,  thank you 😊

From a boy "a bit ago" that went to the ER after making a nice xray of his hand.  Kids, don't do this at home.

Perhaps a bowl of 'ReadyBrek'? 🤭

I havent seen the whole video but without filament voltage the tube wont radiate much, perhaps some field emmisions only, due to residual gases inside the tube. But this wont produce enough heat to generate a real serious current flow.  If this is a rectifier tube, then you will probably also need a load resistance on the anode, otherwise it will basically short out the supply and the setup becomes horribly inefficient.

Why can I smell ozone?

Ideal for a home made Taser, just don't touch the output.
