In this tutorial, I demonstrate how to improve a sky mask around tree leaves and branches in Lightroom.

Wow, the amount of research and time that went into that would have been enormous. That's a forensic like discovery.
Fantastic and thank you so much.

Brilliant! Well done and thank you!

Very helpful thanks.  Sometimes intersecting a sky with a sky works but often not too well on branches which is why you approach is helpful.

Holy cow, this was great! I struggle so much with handling the halo from sky/tree masking. Thank you!

It is a most impressive workflow. I couldn't get it to work at first. Then I removed the ADAPTIVE COLOR PROFILE and used a linear profile instead. This allowed me to get the predicted result you developed. Thank you.

I've spent the last few weeks trying to transition from ON1 Photo Raw to LrC and this video was amazingly helpful.  I've bookmarked it, taken notes on it, practiced it on my own images and I'm sure I'll be coming back to ti.  The five years I spent with ON1 gave me a good background to try LrC but I could never get culling to work well for me with ON1 and culling in LrC is almost fun. I was plagued with halos there too. I followed your advice for ON1 masking also.

Outstanding tip! I have tried it a few times and it certainly works well! Thanks!

You can't even imagine how much this video will help me. Than you so much ! :)

Thank you for the explanation on this.. Now it would be great if Adobe photoshop included some form of similar process when doing a Sky Replacement which doesn't always work!

@2:35 the first tutorial which describes understandably what intersect does

Even after years of experience in Photoshop, I still enjoy watching how others solve such problems.  I love our masking capabilities today, for I remember starting off with PS7 and spending unreal amounts of time manually selecting masks, sometimes in several sessions, to work with or remove a background (usually behind vehicle images that I would place upon a grey to white gradient background, for example).  My early landscapes with trees in similar circumstances?  Awful, even when using the color selection.  These days, the selection process is so much better than before and I shall be playing with this technique, as well.  By the way, I'll add that I often hit the caps lock key (on PC) when using the eyedropper, for then one gets a more refined point to use for selection in tight areas (I used to use it when selecting chromatic aberration that I always fought with my old lenses eons ago).

These will be quite helpful techniques and approaches for many.  Well done and well explained.  :)

Using color range to add you can click and drag an area to include in the selection.

Little by little I am understanding the use of intersect. This video and the steps you used are perfectly organized for my rather linear brain. The logical lefty in me. Thanks!

Very helpful and many thanks 👍

Thank you for sharing such a great technique!

This video will REALLY help me. Many of my photos that are taken in the mountains here on Oahu often have some type of foliage mingled with the sky. I've never been able to figure out how to correct the issues that you pointed out. Thanks for putting the video together.

Exactly what I was looking for, many thanks Anthony!

Awesome work! Thank you for your excellent tutorials & research in finding the best ways to work with Masks in particular.

as always, very good and clear. thanks so much!  Between these videos and your courses you have helped me out so much.
