Is Pisa really worth a full day? Most people show up, snap a photo with the Leaning Tower, and leave within an hour. We wanted to find out if there's more to this city than its most famous landmark — so we spent the morning exploring the streets, the food, and everything tourists usually skip.
But the real surprise came when we hopped on a short train ride to a nearby town that completely blew us away. If you're planning a trip to Tuscany, this video will save you time and show you exactly how to turn a Pisa visit into one of the best days of your trip.

I agree that Lucca has a greater sense of medieval life because it is more contained.
The Geographers had a field trip there but there are other nearby sites such as the mountain where Carrara marble is excavated and to cultural sites such as the magical lake home of Puccini where Boheme was created. So many interesting nearby places to visit.
