The humor is absolutely intentional.

You said that it was unintentionally funny during a bit that was trying to be funny. :D Those of us who like this movie as adults mainly enjoy it for the (deliberate) comedy in amongst the “kids’ movie” stuff. :) "You seem like a decent fellow. I hate to kill you." "You seem like a decent fellow. I hate to die!" 😂 The fact that they are being so friendly before and during a fight to the death is intended to be funny.

I’m 30 years old yet I still love this film.

I don't think you guys get the vibe this movie is going for

I was a teenager when this came out and I loved it because it was romantic but silly. I wanted a Wesley who would say “as you wish.” And it just became a cult classic for people my age.  Thanks for reacting to it and bringing back fond memories!

Yes. It was Andre the Giant.  World wrestling was quite the sensation back in the 80s with little boys.  I was little back then and I remember my brother watching Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, and Matcho Man Randy Savage on TV. Don't remember any other names, but they had dolls and everything and Andre and Hulk went on to star in movies.

We watched this movie so many times that my brother had the battle of wits scene memorized and would constantly recite it. 😂

The reason Buttercup didn't recognize Westley is because the movie shows what a 10 yr. old boy would imagine when having the book read to him.
As far as Mandy Patinkin's most famous role, that may be debatable, but this one was his favorite. He has said so many times.

Yeah. It WAS the coolest thing in 1987. And it was more than enough in those great times.

It was filmed in England and Ireland. The hill they tumbled down isn't as big as they show in the movie.

Funny fact: Mandy Patinkin (Inigo Montoya) had lost his father to cancer the year before so in the last fighting scene of the movie he said it was as he was fighting the cancer that killed his father. The "I want my father back you son of a bitch" was really heartfelt spoken by the actor❤

Some of the actors were from SNL. The grandfather was from the show " Columbo ". ( before your time ).

"Australia is entirely peopled with criminals" depending on when the story was set, this comment is actually true. In 1788, Britain founded the first settlement in Sydney. It was almost entirely criminals and their guards, about 850 of them. Since settling a new area is hard work, used Australia (named "The British colony of New South Wales" at the time) as a penal colony and would go on to ship over 160,000 convicts there as punishment for their crimes.

Lord Farquad.😂😅

You guys are adorable. 😊

I'm just catching up to this now. I've seen better reactions on this channel. This one was rough, for all the reasons everyone else has stated. I don't like negative comments, but pretty much everyone loves this movie.

"Miracle Max" is Billy Crystal.

Sad that you think the funny parts are unintentional!

it's weird you keep saying it's a kids movie like it's beneath you but i think you had trouble keeping up with what's going on. maybe your adult mind forgot how to enjoy a tall tale? key details just floated right past. you seemed to miss about 80% of the jokes and completely whiffed on most of the character's drive and desire. also a general ignorance of history makes you miss a lot of the references and humor. oh well. maybe if you watch it again you'll catch on. although you admitted you'd never want to watch a movie like this anyway (whatever a movie like this means). seems like you suffer from a lack of imagination.

It is INTENTIONALLY funny.
