The way the anime handles Atsushi is just so disappointing, it's no wonder most of those who have only watched the anime keep seeing him as just a 'crybaby' when he is so much more than that. And,the way they present his backstory is frustrating, they keep repeating same things over and over making the audience grow tired of it. Crazy how the same backstory has made me tear up when reading the manga because it doesn't present it in the same infuriating way as the anime. There's also something I dislike about the adaptation of this chapter which is the interaction between Tanizaki and Dazai at the rooftop. It just makes Dazai look like some kind of edgy character and Tanizaki like someone who doesn't have much respect for his senior which we all know is not true.
I'm so glad you finally did a video about another one of my favourite character (Atsushi) tho.( ╹▽╹ )

I don’t like trashing on the anime because it really does have good animation and Asagiri is alright with some changes, I just can’t get over how awful his CPTSD rep is. When I first watched ep 1 and saw his flashback I said to myself “Finally some representation.” Later in the season I remember complaining that they kept repeating the same flashbacks over and over, that’s not CPTSD… only when I read the manga did I truly start to appreciate Atsushi. Atsushi in the manga is one of the best CPTSD representations I have seen

I've never been a show adaptation fan. I just mainly enjoy reading the books or manga. BSD was intended to be my exception and I was EXCITED to watch the show. But the poor handling of Atsushi's backstory and other things completely turned me away. I've never been good at phrasing my thoughts, but you said everything I've been wanting to say perfectly! Thank you!

I LOVE YOU BRO THIS IS ACTUALLY FUN TO EATCH PLEASE MAKE MORE
