In this video I cover the Gammatron explaining it's pros and cons as to why you should or shouldn't be giving this weapon to your defenders.
The Gammatron a sci-fi assault rifle able to fire in three round bursts and has a fairly fast fire rate with great range and accuracy but it trades in it's damage compared to most other assault rifles for that consistency and range. Futuristic!
the strategy I used was to trade in a defender with the Gammatron for a defender with the Beat Blaster to help with spolders and place a few traps throughout the map to help with nurses.

Also if you are saying that fire rate is better than the extra damage that sunbeam provides why not try running the fire rate perk over the 2nd crit damage on it as well?
