Emerald feels like you took 1 gm, 2 masters, 2 diamonds and 5 bronzes and put them in a match. And whoever is in which team is completely random.

Plat and Diamond matches feel much better balanced between both teams. Emerald matches feel like it's a mid Plat team vs a high Diamond team like 70% of the time.

You gotta love how his first Emerald game is 2 supports spawncamping the enemy team 😂

As a washed up support player in Emerald "Wtf I have more damage than both dps" is very real.

holy crap plays mercy and has like 500 total healing done to tanks inthe entire game. i don't think ive ever seen a worse mercy player in my entire life

one of the specific things ive directly noticed with this range of ranked (including the high plat to low diamond before emerald) is these players at best are good at one thing and suffer at everything else. and straight up having teammates that you dont mesh well with instantly throws this off. so the only times they ever get a win is if the team can work with that one playstyle that they can play well. because they suck at doing other playstyles of any given char, it looks like they are bronze players 90% of the time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. Every lobby has people who are clearly smurfing (not intentionally) and people who I would believe just picked up the game last week.

I can't play it any more, one game you're ripping through players that can barely walk straight, the next game you're getting obliterated so fast you can barely move.  Feels like hitting shuffle on elos and I don't know how matchmaking can be so bad, but they took an already miserable experience and made it so much worse.

One of the reasons for the skill discrepancy between the tanks specifically is the low number of players queueing for the tank role. The match making initially tries to make the two teams even with the skill levels, but eventually forces a match with uneven teams as the queue time gets long.

I swear emerald is like a new baby version of what masters used to be. It’s like the first gauntlet you have to climb through in solo queue because your team is either the worst or the best 50% or the time. I’ve seen more deaths in less time than I knew was possible.

Across all roles, I used to hover between P2 - D2, and matches for the most part, felt ok in terms of balance. Since Emerald was introduced, I am now hovering between E4 - E2 but the amount of chaos in matches is utterly insane. It feels like both teams are randomly pooled from silver al the way to Master.

I tried emerald on a smurf account too, and it was really weird to play on this rank. The games were "harder" than the ones in diamond on the same account when I reached it. Matches feel really unbalanced. I wish good luck to those who were stuck on plat and diamond before this rank was added

I went from,  high to low diamond for over 6 seasons to losing every game in emerald and now almost plat. Constantly de ranking 😭😭😭

this is the problem, I’m a emerald 2 dps and some games i go 34-4 and still lose, the teams are super bad and inconsistent. I’m the ONLY one ever taking off angles, applying pressure, and flanking, many games i will not get healed even once regardless of who I’m playing, the supports are always healbotting the tank yet have the audacity to blame me. It feels as almost it’s a mix between silver to masters, and the only way I’m able to climb, is playing ALOT or waiting for placements, in which i will be able to keep my rank as i have before, (silver to emerald)

Overwatch matchmaking is trying to put you on a 50/50, not to put similar skill level players together(because they need to reduce the queuing time). James is a really good player and had a crazy high win rate, so the system decided to put way lower skill level player to James, cause it try to see if james can carry those dumb ass. if he can do it than the system will put him on a higher rank level(tbh I think this system is so dumb)

They are optimizing play time in the past years so much that rank is less meaningful.

the second tank genuinely had no object permanence and that's the first time I've witnessed that in someone

Bro im in emerald the games are rigged, you get a lobby of golds then a lobby of diamonds and there is no way some people with the emerald badge are actually above plat.

i am em2 dps. i solo and sometimes duo queue. every game genuinely feels like a gamble. one game your team has a brain and works together and one game your teammates will act like they are top 500 and try to 1v5 the enemy team and then ask YOU to swap. my games have been so much worse when they added emerald.
