The crime concerns the murder of civil engineer Rubens Fernando da Costa Filho, 29, who was shot and killed on June 21, 2026, in the parking lot of an event in Lagoa Seca (Paraíba state). The suspect, businessman Cristian Dantas, was arrested at the scene. The Crime: After a prior argument that was broken up by security guards inside the party, the suspect waited for the victim to leave, retrieved a weapon from his vehicle, and committed the homicide in the parking lot. Rubinho was shot and taken to the hospital by SAMU (Brazilian emergency medical service), but did not survive his injuries upon arrival at the Campina Grande Trauma Hospital. The Investigation: The Civil Police of Paraíba are investigating the motive for the crime, which may be linked to jealousy, possibly involving a former girlfriend of the victim. The suspect, who was also injured in the confusion, exercised his right to remain silent during questioning. Developments: The engineer's body was buried in Guarabira (PB), the city where he was from, generating public commotion. Conhecia Rubens desde os meus 11 anos, estudei com ele por anos, e sempre vi a melhor parte (a que todos conheciam). Também conhecia a Larissa desde que ela era criança, e nunca pensei numa tragédia dela. E vamos lá... Todos da cidade sabiam da relação difícil deles e mais, do término. Neste caso em específico, ela não aceitava que ele fosse feliz (porque ela quem pediu o divórcio). No fim, ela só queria alguém pra tomar as dores dela, e conseguiu. O então assassino movido por despeito o matou sem nem pensar. A justiça que queremos, é que ela seja responsabilizada já que eles não se conheciam, e ela acabou por motivar brigas no dia fatídico.
