Today's extended video is another return to Shane Bilson's stunning Stoke-on-Trent jungle for an August garden tour featuring practical garden design ideas, tried-and-tested rare plant care tips and practical advice on dog-proofing your garden (60kg Otis is a star!) along with easy gardening methods to effortlessly attract more wildlife. Probably most relevant in this current year of heatwaves, drought and hosepipe bans - Shane has a no-nonsense attitude on how to analyse and adapt your garden borders to cope with challenging weather, shifting seasons and a changing climate. Hardy exotic plants in Shane's garden have to be able to survive flooding and high levels of winter rainfall, brutal extended winter freezes as well as prove to be tough, resilient and attractive garden plants through summer too. So when Shane says a plant is a 'good-doer' and copes well with his 50 degree annual temperature range - chances are it might be a great tropical style or exotic feature plant for starting or adding to your garden border projects too. Of course, we look at Shane's towering tropical style plants, serene stream planting and amazing Araliaceae collection which have all come on leaps and bounds during an often tough gardening year.
