I'm so sorry to hear that so many of you are having issues with hair breakage using this method. Be sure to use a low volume developer like 10 or 20 vol and only leave it on for 20-30 min. Always use a good hair mask after and it works great!
I wouldn't have this up if it didn't work. I have learned since doing this that yes, if not done properly or your hair is not in good condition to start with then this can cause damage. Use at your own discretion. Thanks to everyone for watching and commenting great tips and your experiences!

100% worked for me. I had artic fox purple rain in my hair and it got it all out! No breakage and used a hair mask afterwards for a couple days too!

This just totally worked for my hair. I have a blonde balayage, my natural hair is dark brown. I threw Arctic Fox Purple Rain on top to add a pop. It came out great but after a while it washed out but still had a great amount of purple. I used the baking soda mix just how you did and as soon as I saw the color change back to blonde I washed it thoroughly and deep conditioned it and I looks and feels great. Thank you ♥️

OMG!! Finally I took out the dark I had it light brown i painted it thinking it was going to be light brown still but it turned out dark🙄!!!!I used the vitamin c with head and shoulders a little bit came out not that much!But with this method it really helped a lot a bit damage but with treatments it will do😊 Thank you so much!!❤️

Wow, I'm surprised this worked for my hair! I had not only done several different fashion colors, but more recently I last dyed my hair all over with Bigen's Chestnut brown color. I only used this mixture on half of my head, as I am going to do split hair dye with one side blonde and leaving my other side my natural dark brown color. Doing it this way, I was really able to compare the two sides of my head and see the difference. Nothing drastic, but this mixture definitely lifted a lot of red undertones out and took me from a dark brown to an almost pale, ashy brown color. My mixture consisted of equal parts baking soda to 20 vol developer (the developer was taken out of a box dye kit I bought from target lol since sally's is closed for covid, couldn't buy more right away), and then I used blue dawn dish soap and some cheap suave clarifying shampoo. I left it in my hair for 40 min, and kept massaging it into my hair. I noticed that areas that had more "heat" applied lightened much more, so heat is crucial. I am pretty happy with the amount of red that was removed! Not planning on using this mix again unless I just want to remove the aftermath of a lighter/brighter color in the future, but it was fun to do this DIY and see the result! (: Definitely works! Ordering some actual color remover and bleach now to complete blonding my hair at home lol

I would warn anyone against using this concoction. A typical lightener formula consists of one chemical reaction. Either ammonia or hydrogen peroxide reacting with powdered bleach. The ingredients she uses include, hydrogen peroxide, sulfate and sodium bicarbonate. All three combined could potentially destroy disulfide bonds in your hair. Meaning even healthy untreated hair could melt using this method. Salon Care developers are cheap and hydrogen peroxide is used as the activator, that’s why you can get them at Sally beauty supply were you don’t need a license to purchase them. The dish soap is pure 100% sulfate. Finally, baking soda is raw sodium bicarbonate. All three of these together are highly reactive and 10 times more damaging than a color cleanse, which if done properly does not do anything other than strip pre-existing color. I am not the least bit surprised to see comments about tragedies caused by this concoction. Proceed at your own risk.

I did this and my hair came out in CLUMPS! Not saying it won’t work. Obviously many have had great luck, but I thought I should add a disclaimer. My hair was fine before doing this. It wasn’t brittle and now it’s pretty much gone. Please try this DIY with caution!

I tried this from watching her video to get a artic fox fushia pink and it worked perfectly! Well, tried it again to get a ginger rose color out and it didn't work nearly as well as with the fushia pink....im gonna give it a second go. Wish me luck!

Disclaimer my hair is very tough so I know it can handle a lot. I had dyed it with Artic fox purple rain literally yesterday and hated it. Tried this right now with a 20v and left most of my hair a pretty silver but some spots have a green tint. I’ll try it again tomorrow to get the green out hopefully
