Never doubt the power of SFII. This game will outlive roaches.

It's hard to believe how a fighting game released 34 years ago still has an active competitive scene, but I'm here for it. Some games truly stand the test of time.

Crazy how well this game holds up

My brother played in this tourney and beat his first two opponents! People traveled from all across the US to compete and a crew from New Zealand even came out. Great to see Hyper Fighting alive and well.

Hell yeah, bro! Hyper Fighting is peak 90s nostalgia for me.

The audio in this game alone is immaculate

This will always be my favorite thing about the fighting game community. Games never really die, there will ALWAYS be someone out there who will play your favorite game with you. New or old, and that to me is such a beautiful thing to me.

SFII was still hot as fire when Hyper fighting came out and poured gasoline on the whole thing. People had to have that speed on their consoles after seeing it in the arcade.

Whenever I am on Fightcade, I usually get a couple of sessions in on Hyper Fighting. Balrog is so much fun to play in this version!

hyper fighting is so dope. glad to see people still playing in 2026

It's fascinating to see CPS1 iterations of SF2 still being played to this day.
Between this and ST, it's fascinating how simply upping the game speed can vastly improve the game feel to a timeless degree.

Hyper fighting never gets old.

When I was a kid i used to challenge grown-ups on the bonus stage with Blanka or Honda. Good stuff!

Yes thanks for the shout out Justin. Sf2 games have always been in New Zealand 🇳🇿 in fact our arcades especially in the 80s 90s were tied almost directly to Japanese Arcades in style or games as we share the same formats video etc even most Arcades would have the japan version of games as well as the European version

Hearing gootecks back in it and able to be anywhere near the fgc is wild and I'm here for it.

I would love to see Jeff Schaefer and Tomo Ohira come out of retirement to play Hyper Fighting again. It would be interesting to see how they would fare up against today's competition.
