In this week's episode of Ali on the Bank, I head back to a new mark where I have had some good success whilst learning the ropes with this Topwater Fishing.
I take along my Slash Tide Thief 902ML, & my Daiwa Caldia 3000 spooled up with 18lb Braid & 12lb Fluorocarbon Trace.
In this session, I very happily manage to land my 2 best Bass off the surface so far. I also witness a sighting I will not forget for a very long time - an enormous Bluefin Tuna, breaching within casting distance of the Rock I was stood on - a truly phenomenal sight in my Local Waters, and one that is occurring more regularly here.

Nice vid as always Ali.
Try a "pause..twitch...pause..twitch..retrieve" method if a straight "retrieve...pause...retrieve" doesn't work.
Don't forget, some predatory species like bass may hit a large lure with a disabling strike first, then circle back for a finish.
That's why a "pause twitch" works as it simulates a death throes reaction.
