In this video, set in a castle straight out of your favorite epic fantasy show, we delve into lymphoid neoplasms, focusing on the differences between acute and chronic B and T cell cancers. Acute lymphoid leukemia/lymphoma originates from mutations in pre-B or pre-T cells, with lymphoblasts as the characteristic cells. We cover key markers like PAS and Tdt positivity, CD markers, and symptoms like pancytopenia, hepatosplenomegaly, and bone pain. We then shift to chronic lymphoid leukemia (CLL), which is slower and more common in older adults, characterized by mutated mature B cells, smudge cells on smears, and symptoms like hypogammaglobulinemia and lymphadenopathy. Finally, we touch on hairy cell leukemia, which is TRAP positive and can cause bone marrow fibrosis.
