as a retired sailor who has to been to many countries. keep your eyes straight ahead and dont pay attention to them. dont touch them and dont touch the merchandise.

I live in Florence, and one of the floor print guys was putting his hands on a woman who stepped on a print asking for 50 Euro. I went over and made sure she was safe, only to be met with 5-7 men shouting and threatening me with my family. I am a larger male so I was not worried, but it’s awful to see the city I love plagued by these scams.

I remember going to Italy back in 2019, it was extremely hard to enjoy the architecture, culture, and the beautiful cities because of these types of scammers out harassing people! I remember being in a group of people and would see these scammers bee-line towards certain people, including myself. Awareness of these scams and touts is crucial!! and thank you for making this video.

I was in florence in March and saw that same group of 3 card Monty people. They hang out near the Duomo. I think it was called. The big white and green chaple.

I'm from Milano and it's known that the Rose sellers that operate in the Navigli zone and Arco della Pace steal roses from cemeteries are re-sell them. Absolutely despicable.

I've done Rome, one and done. Now I rent a car and go into the countryside. Beautiful scenery, great wine and food, friendly locals who are actually glad to see you. And no freaking scammers.

The aggressive "baggage" handlers that grab your stuff at the train station and load it on their cart while pretending to be a porter. Happened to me a couple of times during our travels through Italy. One guy demanded 20 euros for "helping" us get a water taxi in Venice.

When we first met such scammers on the streets of Athenes, my nine year old learnt to react like this: "DON'T TOUCH ME!!!" High pitched scream. Oh how they all took three steps back... I hate these people invading my personal space and spoiling the aura of such beatiful, historic places. Good job confronting them.

I’ve been living in Italy for four years now. The beach and restaurant sellers are the worst. You can’t relax 5 min without one coming by to hassle you. I don’t really mind them in the city because you can just ignore them and walk away. But when we’re out for a meal sitting outside it becomes too much.

A PIECE OF ADVICE ~ I learned years ago … NEVER, EVER … take anything from these scammers. Once you physically take it in your hand, they won’t let you give it back and/or they’ll yell for the police claiming that you ”stole” it from them. I’ve even seen fake police officers try to then get you to pay a fine on the spot or risk going to jail. They’re all in on the scam. People of course think it’s all real, they’re frightened, so they end up paying the fine.
