Nortent Vern 1 – What I Loved.... What I Didn’t.

RS Outdoors

In this video, I take a basic look at the Vern 1 tent which is made by Nortent.

The tent was provided to me for review, however I would like to point out that there has been no direction from Nortent whatsoever and all the comments made are my own honest thoughts.

There has been a lot of internet buzz, good and bad about the Vern 1 so I was keen to try one out and also try and compare it to the Hilleberg Soulo, MSR Access 1, and MSR Access 2 which I have also owned in the past.

My order direct from Nortent Norway of the Varde 2 has been dispatched and I should have it with a footprint by end of next week. The Vern and Varde are great tents can't wait! As for the man breasts at 64 I noticed in a video, I need to go back to diet and training. Into my six week and it is working, including my stamina. This is needed for winter wild camps. Great video, thankyou for sharing

Thanks Ray for your video. I`m an expat living in Germany and today I bought a Vern 1. Looking forward to comparing it to the Soulo and other tents . I`ll let you know mate I Get on. By the way, I am not a rambler; I am a cyclist and like you I prefer to take a little more weight, but feel secure in a stormy night. Take good care Ray.

Loved this video mate, a really good review. I agree with you about the lightweight obsession. I'm currently used an MSR Hubba NX for 3 season adventures but am seriously considering buying one of these for Winter camps, it looks brilliant. That spot looks incredible and well done for looking after the memorial to the guy who lost his life too soon. Well done with the weight loss. ATB - Simon

Hilleberg prices keep going up and are now out of justifiable reach. I'd buy a Nortent before a Soulo. The MSR is overpriced as well comapred to the Vern1.
The competition tent for me is the KUIU Stormstar, which looks stronger with more room inside, but doesn't have the panorama that the Vern has. Most likely I'd go for the KUIU.
Good to see you out with another video again Ray, and I remember the one where you cleaned the memorial.

Great video Ray! I'm not long home from 4 nights on St Kilda using this tent, and it was my first time using it. We got every type of weather you could want to test the tent. The only thing I noticed was the condensation build up between the inner and outer was quite severe. But I think that was my mistake from having the tent right to the ground to try slightly harder to stop the Kilda mouse from getting into my food supply 😂.

We got some quite heavy winds too and with all the guys out, I can't believe it never moved an inch or stretched/frayed any of the lines.

I think I've found my forever tent 👍

Fantastic to see you, Ray. As well as losing 6kg, you have lost 6 years! Hope you enjoyed making the video.

Always delighted when I see you’ve uploaded. Immediately noticed the weight loss before you’d mentioned it. Excellent work!

Well done Ray I don't think I've ever been 95kg 😅 I might get close to it after my next hike! Shocked at the price of the MSR, it's getting silly money now for tents, I've noticed DCF tents are breaking £1k mark. Great to see you out and good luck with the diet ATB Al
