Not only Fernie or BC…it is the Whole Country!

Grew up in Fernie in the mid 70's and 80's when it was still a fantastic town before all the rich decided to take over.

Same thing on vancouver island and all of B.C so tired of it.

It's  happening in a lot of little communities all across B.C. The okanagan is good example.

BC politics are enough to keep me out of the province.  The best things about Fernie are the “Big Bang Bagel” and the cheese shop just two blocks down the sidewalk.

" GREED " is destroying economic prosperity and stability, collapsing the cost of living a affordable existence. Forcing people from thier homes and communities.
I call it "ECONOMIC ESPIONAGE"  Absolutely Shameful.

Same in CROWSNEST Pass, your taxes are 10% of the purchase price! Example: you bought a structure for 900,000 your taxes are 9,000 per year! Residents are being taxed out of their houses. Corruption of local government is rampant!

Extra taxes help the government buy luxury condos.

Carney is trying to stop the bleeding of the housing bubble collapse by buying up 4000 condos that will not sell. The prices are still far too high. The Canadian housing bubble is about to burst and its about fucking time.

Left BC for Mexico thirty yrs ago.  My first home purchase was Castleguard , interest on my mortgage was 18 . Lived in Surrey for 14 yrs , had to have a full time job, flip cars on the side and grow herb in the basement to have any pocket money. Mexico is the best thing I ever did , viva mexico.

Left Nova Scotia for the same reason. There’s a TV show on Netflix where foreigners are buying up local housing and they advertise it as coastal living. These family homes are now being sold for millions

I used to have a dream that one day i would retire to BC but now I just hope i can afford groceries.

I lived in Fernie for 15 years! Didn't want to leave but I couldn't afford to buy and rentals are hard to find. I should say long term rentals. Broke my heart to leave as it was the best place I ever lived!

The government is our enemy don't forget it,

Been thinking of coming from canmore. We got flooded by imports and tourists. Its just not the same anymore.

It really doesn't matter.Bc, is too expensive to live in

Fernie is ridiculously expensive for the local economy

The real-estate bubble happening across Canada hasn't seen the bottom yet.  But, most realtors won't tell you that.  Salesmen will never tell you wait to buy if you like saving money.

So sad, my grandfather Erickson built one of the first houses in Fernie, still looking at the photo of one of the first cars in Fernie.

Same thing happening in Rossland, Red Mountain.
