Another scrap metal expedition to an old narrow-gauge railway line yielded both a bountiful haul and serious challenges for the equipment!
While crossing swampy streams, the all-terrain vehicle sheared bolts and tore the adapter flange of the GAZ-66 driveshaft. Despite the breakdown, we reached the old narrow-gauge railway line and stumbled upon a veritable goldmine: we recovered dozens of heavy train brake shoes and rail links—the trailer contained almost a ton of scrap metal! However, the return journey proved impassable with such a heavy load, and the trailer had to be uncoupled right in the taiga.
We returned to the garage, turned a reliable adapter spacer out of durable steel on a lathe, returned to the forest, and salvaged all the loot!
