Built around 11,600 years ago in Şanlıurfa, Göbekli Tepe is one of archaeology's most stunning discoveries. In this video, we're diving into the leading scientific hypotheses about what Göbekli Tepe really was. We'll explore its iconic T-shaped pillars, the animal carvings, claims of intentional burial, radiocarbon dating results, and ground-penetrating radar data. How do Klaus Schmidt's work and connections to nearby Neolithic sites like Karahan Tepe and Nevalı Çori shed light on our transition from hunter-gatherer societies to settled life? Was Göbekli Tepe a ritual site, a shelter, or did it serve a completely different purpose? As we separate myth from hard evidence, we'll explore why this structure, standing right at the dawn of civilization, makes us "rethink human history."
