We surprised our buddy Tim with a full E30 build in 5 days. And he had no idea. His slow, automatic 1987 325e went in, and an S52-swapped, M-Tech'd, coilover having ripper came out. This is our case for why the E30 might be the best old car you can start a project with: vintage with less of the vintage headache.

It’s 1998.. I’m 16 , the newspaper ad said, “bmw 318i. $1600”. That 4 banger m10 was my first car in high school and taught me more than, well.. most of high school. Senior year I upgraded to a 1 owner delphin grey 1987 325is. Dated my high school sweetheart in that cad, got married and bought her a 1990 red convertible. The iS sadly is gone… but the vert is still with us both. Happily married 23 years later. Thanks for the vid James ❤

The fact that Tim isn't having a camera shoved in his face and how everything is so chill makes me so happy for him. If dude is shy and didn't want to be on camera and stuff what a sweet gesture for him to not have to be,, even though this centers a lot around him,. I just love that respect for him, if this is how that went down. Much love to the Speeed crew <3

You live in a car paradise, I hope you appreciate it. No, seriously. There aren't many places in the world where cars stay rust-free, and where you can actually find used cars that aren't broken into pieces. Even fewer places where you can buy them cheap. Maybe, just maybe, you can appreciate it even more by looking beyond your region. Love you. It's like a window into a better place. A place I don't belong to. But I appreciate its exist in this damn world.

My dad is an automotive engineer. He worked with cars all his life, he knows the tiniest details down to even the slightest sounds and pitches. Yet, I picked a whole different engineering branch and know a little about cars. But will definitely work on and study cars after college. Can’t wait to reunite with my dad one day and surprise him with a sick custom build and a son who actually knows cars.
