One time I was playing, the burglar appeared during daytime. My sim had just went to work so the house was empty, and just as my sim left for work... the burglar showed up... in broad daylight 🤣

I always put my alarms on the edge of my lot, right next to where the burglar spawns. Poor guy would get caught before he even reached the front door. Glad to see that method in your video!

It is so aggravating how slowly sims get out of bed when the burglar comes. LOL
I like to put one wall section at each end of the lot, paint it with that wall covering that looks like ivy and then put the tallest hedge in front of it. And of course, add a burglar alarm.
It looks nice and the wall pieces don't stick out like sore thumbs.

The nice thing about the burglar alarm in The Sims 1 compared to The Sims 2 is that you can install the burglar alarm outside of the house, which ensures the alarm triggers a few seconds earlier, even before the burglar entering the house. The Sims 2 prevents you from installing it outside, which gives the burglar just a tiny bit more time to do his thing.

I always hated when the burglar would steal a nice tv after I had it for a while. Then insurance would only cover the depreciated value, not the replacement value.

When I played the mansion, I built 2×2 "guard houses" at the corners with alarms on the outside walls. He made it two tiles.

Ive been playing the Sims 3 and J noticed, the Alarm no longer catchea them it just stops them... However, if you have expensive stuff outside, and no alarm facing the front. He'll come steal your statue's, but not go in side

I tried keeping my Sims indoor and build no doors for getting out and in. However, the burglar would still have a way to "break" into your house by some ways like teleporting towards the objects to steal then disappeared the same way. How funny is that...
And the same way works for the tax collector if you keep not paying the tax...

Oo my answer for my 1# most needed item is actually a good bed. Your sim can get stuck depressed without it and you can like basically soft lock your game and never be in a good enough mood. I can deal with a cheap fridge, toilet, shower, tv, but always buy the most expensive bed first.

6:16 The microwave for me lol. I need to have it at the start until Sims have enough cooking skill to use the stove. Then it's the 2-seater hot tub, the easiest way to build friendships, important for career advancement!

iirc very active Sims will not complain when you cancel their sleep... so the traits you give them have an influence on that

CORRECTION: #1 Burglar will only come while your sim is asleep OR AT WORK. ive had burglars spawn like 3 seconds after my sim went to work at like 9:03 in the morning while its daylight. so the wiki is wrong as impossible as that seems.
