A routine paperwork mismatch on a fire-safety inspection report exposes nine years of quiet reconnaissance inside a federal research campus. A contract cylinder technician needed no clearance to walk into secure vaults — only a clipboard and an escort. Twenty-seven rooms, one procurement front, and a calendar of blind windows nobody thought to protect.

The Bureau's financial forensics trace the payments to a Cyprus shell layer tied to a procurement front for Iranian intelligence, uncovering an annual test-window vulnerability used to map cubic footage, equipment density, and the ninety minutes each vault sits unguarded. A joint task force races an eleven-day countdown before the next scheduled discharge test, recovering a complete floor-plan archive hours before the window opens — and exposing a second, parallel operation at a separate federal site.
