Life was so much simpler in the era of Des on MOTD and Ceefax page 302… good times…

So important to have the preliminary bit with the BBC voiceover to complete the experience.

Back when you could only see the 3pm scores on teletext and to see the highlights you would have to eagerly wait till 10:30pm for MOTD good days man

Waking up on a Sunday morning and switching between MOTD highlights and playing Metal Gear Solid on my PlayStation. Bliss.

When football was relatable.. When times where simple. Sat up as a kid waiting for MOTD to come on instead of using YouTube

I find it astonishing that despite this being 24 years old (and the rest!) Des Lynam is still with us...
He always looked like an old geezer, so I presumed that as this was from 2001, he would of passed away. He was 59 here; I always assumed he was 'old' from the way he looked back when he hosted MOTD.
Just for the record / as a comparison, Sir Alex is the same age as Des but (IMO) looks years younger than him here.

Bring this ball & these pitches back for the true essence of football. Football now has the dynamics of indoor football.

I always remember this as I was a Villa fan and I remember Watson scoring an own goal and Beckham with a free kick

Proper nostalgia hearing Barry Davies, Tony Gubba, and Motson. Forgot how long the highlights for some of the featured games, about 20 minutes some of them, arguably too long.

lmao "we have Charlton against Blackburn" followed by the worst 10 seconds of football I've seen

The god old days, teletext in the afternoon bit of radio 5 live and match of the day in the night 😂

Beattie's goal was tremendous, i'm surprised i've never seen it before...it's every bit as good as a lot of those you find on best goals compilations that are talked about for years. They didn't even mention it in the studio 😂
