Earlier this year, we visited an organic farm owned by a good friend of ours, located at Kongulavata area on Gizo Island. Kongulavata is on the Northeast coast of Gizo Island. Since it was the first time going further into the harbour for most of us, we were a bit lost wandering and finding our way in the stretches of Mangrove forest. However, upon arrival at the farm, we could see why our friend wants to stay here. The land is very fertile compared to other areas near or close to Gizo town. Mr John Holland is a well known farmer and organic trainer in Gizo. He operates the Faith Farm Association and had just recently acquired the land at Kongulavata as an expansion to his farming business. Other bigger islands surrounding Gizo; including Gizo town residents, always benefit from his knowledge and the produces (crops, fruits, and vegetables) he took to the Gizo fresh market every week.
