The CELPIP speaking test is only 15 minutes long, but it is the section that scares students the most. Eight tasks, back to back, no breaks, and most people freeze not because their English is bad but because they have no idea what the examiner is actually looking for in each one. In this video, I break down all eight CELPIP speaking tasks and show you exactly what you need to focus on to score a 10, 11, or 12, using real CLB12 examples for every single task.
Most students prepare for CELPIP speaking by just practicing random conversations and hoping that fluency alone is enough to get a high score. But the examiner is not just listening to how well you speak. They are evaluating whether you know how to structure your answer, use the right grammar for each task type, and respond to exactly what the prompt is asking. Once you understand what each of the eight tasks is actually testing, the whole section becomes a lot more manageable and your score starts to move in the right direction.
One of my students, Martin, came into our program already speaking great English and still found speaking to be the section that scared him the most. He practiced every weekday and did a full mock test every weekend for about a month, sending us his recordings for feedback along the way. What is CELPIP?
CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) is the English proficiency test accepted by the Canadian government for immigration purposes, including Express Entry and other Permanent Residency pathways.
Unlike IELTS, CELPIP is 100% computer-based and was designed specifically around everyday Canadian English. It tests four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Scores range from CLB 1 to CLB 12, and most immigration programs require CLB 10 or higher to maximize your points.
If you're on the path to Canadian PR, CELPIP is one of the most straightforward tests you can take. And with the right strategy, CLB 10 or higher is absolutely within reach.

Teacher Mike, would it be possible to do the same for reading too?
First, I think it would be unfair to charge everyone the same amount. A person earning minimum wage has less money available after paying for rent, food, and other necessities. In comparison, someone with a very high income can afford to contribute more without significantly affecting their daily life.
Second, public transportation benefits the whole community. Even wealthy people who do not take the bus can benefit from less traffic and better transportation for workers, students, and other members of society.
Finally, I believe the tax system should be fair. People with higher incomes should generally contribute more, while people with lower incomes should pay less.
Overall, I support using taxes to fund public transportation, but I believe the contribution should be based on income rather than charging everyone the same amount.
I don't have international credit card.
