Ivana Trump 1992: Donald Trump Will Never Dominate Her Again | Dini Petty
Dini Petty
41,643 views
Ivana Trump on her divorce from Donald Trump, 1992. Two years after his affair with Marla Maples became front page news, a New York court barred his first wife from discussing their divorce. She flew to Toronto and talked anyway.
For the next twenty-five minutes she never says his name. Not once. She says "the man." A man with a big ego who dominates, who leaves you a little woman underneath doing exactly what he wants. Then Dini Petty suggests she write a book called The Art of the Compromise, and Ivana laughs, and then answers it completely seriously.
Seven weeks before she sat down here, Trump's Castle and Trump Plaza had filed for bankruptcy protection in Atlantic City. She tells the audience the Castle was the number one profit making casino in the United States when she ran it, and that nobody who followed her ever beat those numbers. She never mentions the bankruptcy. She doesn't have to.
Ivana Trump died in July 2022. Footage of her from the divorce year, at length and unedited, barely exists.
Watch it and decide for yourself whether she was being gracious or merciless.
