I'VE NOT ABANDONED MY CHILD!!! The contrast between who DDL is in "Gangs of New York" and "There Will Be Blood" and who he is in his personal life is absolutely shocking to me. It just seems impossible to believe that he would have that kind of incredible talent to transform himself into the characters he became in these movies. The Oscar should have gone to Daniel Day-Lewis for Gangs of New York!!! Based on what appears to be his calm and polite demeanor, how did anybody know, or even believe, that Daniel had the inherent talent to create and develop the character "Bill the Butcher"? That performance was clearly the pinnacle of powerful performances that became central to making the movie a cinematic masterpiece.
