Bratislava is south of the Carpathians, on whose hills the city was founded and has spread from the vineyard-covered slopes to the Danube valley. However, Bratislava is north of the nearby Alps. The two huge mountain ranges are so close that they plunge into the Danube near Bratislava, both on the surface and underground in gravel deposits. Bratislava is a southern city at heart, but when the heat disappears from the city, it becomes windy and humid, like Bergen in Norway. You found perfect weather in Bratislava, like in a Norwegian fjord, so you didn't have a chance to experience its southern atmosphere.
