A little update My brother stayed with his wife “they eventually got divorced” my dad and stepmom broke up. Also yes I confirmed with everyone that it did in fact happen! Also I love you Charlotte! I can't begin to tell you how common it is for a widow and the partner's bff to get together. My late bio dad and late adoptive dad were bffs from kindergarten. My mom and adoptive dad bonded over grief. It didn't last because my mom evolved in her growth and grief and my adoptive dad didn't. But adoptive dad felt this huge sense of need to take care of us. And my bio dad asked him to if anything were to happen to him. It was a sudden accident and sudden passing.

That “guy from work” story about not remembering names hit hard. We had an incredibly friendly and sweet vendor at my previous job. I became friends with her. Not “hang outside of work” friends, but friendly. Side hugs, asking about trips, about family, etc. And I felt horrible, because I didn’t know her name… until some other employees approached me and confessed that they didn’t know her name. Turns out there were several people in my department who didn’t know her name, even though we all routinely talked to her. Finally overheard someone call her, and learned she had a very common name (think Sally, Jane, Anna). I let the other coworkers know, and the “Case of the Friendly Unnamed Vendor” was finally solved

In cases of identical children they do in fact offer medical tattoos for children. It usually looks like a freckle and located behind the ear

A friend of mine, her dad died when she was really young — old enough to remember her dad — but he also asked his best friend to take care of his family (Italian) and he also married her mom and took care of the family like they were his own. I got to spend lots of time with him growing up, and it was so special how much he loved them and by extension, us the friends, it’s an incredible thing and it is still such a purely selfless but lovely thing that he did. My friend also loved him so dearly while he was with us.

For the triplets story: I have seen online parents using nail polish on a toe nail and colour coding the kids. Assuming its safe for baby then seems like a good solution to remember who is who 😄

I am a triplet. I have sister and brother. My sister and I are identical. When we were younger, our dad would often get us mixed up and say "which one are you?". My nephew and niece have occasionally called me 'mom' when they haven't been looking closely. My sister and I think it's hilarious when this happens! 🙂

You can get medical tattoos on identical babies. I don't know about numbers, but a discrete dot behind the ear, or under the foot. But I think it's mostly done when one child has a serious condition that requires medication, or when they're allergic to something.

My son started gaming on Xbox when he was in middle school. He had a group of 5 guys that he games with. They still game today (he is 26) and two of them went to his wedding! He has met 3 of them in person so far. He is a very quiet person, not really shy, just quiet. I am glad he found a good core group at a young age and that he still games with them.

When I had twins I was so worried I would mix them up so I dressed them each in the same colour every time, pink for one, purple for the other. Well then my mom comes over and promptly undresses both of them. At the same time. I panicked a bit but then realized that one baby had a freckle on her head and so was able to always tell. Phewf! This doesn't mean they weren't mixed up at the beginning though. They are 30 now so I guess we are good.

It was hard on my hub, but really hard on my daddies girl sister in-law at first. And one thing my sister in-laws pastor told her really helped her. “How long does your mom have to live in grief and misery, before she’s allowed to be happy again? Do you want her to spend the rest of her life alone? Shouldn’t the answers to those questions be entirely up to her?”.
