Our goal this time was the Amipulco Waterfalls.
We set off from La Joya, at about 3,990 meters above sea level, and began the route through one of the most impressive sections of this volcano.
The trail took us to Boca de Tiburón, near 4,010 meters above sea level, and from there we continued towards the waterfalls.
We found them amidst the fog, the ground completely wet, and a mountain that reminded us that conditions here can change in a matter of minutes.
My phone's altimeter registered that we reached 4,190 meters above sea level at the highest point of the route.
Reaching the top was the objective, but continuing doesn't always mean making progress. With the terrain becoming increasingly slippery and steep, visibility reduced, and the responsibility of not endangering those with you, the moment arrived to decide how far to go.
Because in the mountains, there are also victories that aren't found at the summit.
This is the story of our hike to the Amipulco Waterfalls.
