Good job and thanks Steffani, you gave a pretty good explanation about Indonesia. about the volcanoes, the islands, the culture of eating with hand, even the rubber time (jam karet) are explained precisely.

"i can understand but i can't speak" IS SO REAL

OK, I don’t usually comment more than once, but I feel like things are getting out of hand. Fellow Indonesians: we have to remember that there will never be a “perfect” representative of Indonesia, especially when the person featured is just a regular Indonesian living in South Korea who happens to be available for the shoot.

It’s unrealistic and unfair to expect them to represent our entire, incredibly diverse country flawlessly. Imagine being put on the spot in a video, having to follow a script from producers, and trying to get everything right; it’s not easy. If someone says something inaccurate, by all means, correct them respectfully, but there’s no need to tear them down.

I’ll be honest, I’ve been guilty of this too. I remember criticizing Bagas (I think that was his name) for some of the things he said about Indonesia. But later I found out that these participants often don’t get much freedom to explain things the way they want; they have to stick to the script and time limits given by the production team.

So please, let’s hold off on harsh judgments. We don’t know the full story behind what happens in the studio, and these people are doing their best in a tough situation.

These 10 facts are great, but let me add a bit more for perspective:
- Indonesia stretches over 5,370 kilometers (3,337 miles) from west to east — that’s farther than the distance from London to Tehran.
- It’s also wider than the entire continental United States.
- A flight from one end to the other can take up to 9 hours.

So now, the mind-blowing facts about 17,500 islands and 700+ languages make a lot more sense, right? 😊

9:00 Let me help you out with the Sundanese introduction, Stefanie:
ᮝᮤᮜᮥᮏᮨᮀᮆᮔ᮪ᮏᮤᮀ Wilujeng enjing (Good morning).
ᮔᮨᮕᮀᮊᮩᮔ᮪ᮝᮞ᮪ᮒᮞᮤᮙ᮪ᮊᮥᮛᮤᮀ… Nepangkeun, wasta simkuring… (Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is…).
ᮠᮒᮥᮁᮔᮥᮠᮥᮔ᮪ Hatur nuhun (Thank you).

16:02 –Just a small correction, Stefanie: Bhinneka Tunggal Ika is written in Old Javanese, which, while heavily influenced by Sanskrit, is a distinct language. It’s part of the Austronesian family (like Tagalog and Malay), not Indo-European like Sanskrit.

I love how Stefanie casually says around 13:49, “Some Indonesians are Chinese Indonesians and they have their ancestors from China” as if she’s not a Chinese Indonesian herself 😂 But that’s the thing about us Indonesians: our national identity comes first. When we’re abroad, we usually just say “Indonesian,” unlike some of our neighbors who often introduce themselves as “Malaysian Chinese” or “Singaporean Indian.”

Even when we do specify ethnicity, we say things like “Chinese Indonesian” or “Arab Indonesian” because “Indonesian” is still the primary identity. In contrast, in Malaysia or Singapore, people tend to lead with their ethnicity, saying things like “Malaysian Chinese” or “Singaporean Indian” which reflects a different sense of identity where ethnic background takes precedence over nationality.

liat wajah stefanie nih adem banget ramah vibe nya,gak cuma cantik tapi manis juga apalagi pas senyum🥰❤️

Indonesia actually huge, like from east to west length is comparable to the distance across Europe.  I just wishes we have better government to manage all these nature and potential.

Indo complainers in this comment section need to STFU. Komplan komplen doang tapi ga mahamin situasi.

I just feel so happy knowing that, people love Bali so much and I actually live here in Bali, Indonesia

An Indonesian, but i really hate people with "jam karet" Attitude, its really disrespect others time, cuz me myself if i make appointment with someone at 1 o'clock I will make sure I am there at least a quarter of an hour before time thats why I don't accept it when people waste my time

I think this comment would go for the channel. I don't know who gives the idea for giving fun facts about our country. But, these fun facts are really common, and actually you can search it by yourself. I expect it to be more entertaining, like the story of Stephanie about the superstitious (yes, some last minutes are really fun one), her experience about food, favorite tourism places, since it's a language-based channel so her opinion about slang in Indonesia, you also can do fashion style. So it's not just about volcanoes & island.

But, I really respect to Indonesian representative, because she can tell us well about our country, Thank You Stephanie.

But, it's still a good video.
Great!

Indonesia use Sanskrit word for the slogan because of Hindu-Buddhism influence in Nusantara era (Indonesia's era of kingdoms) since around 500 AD. It's a looooong history.

Did you know that there were many archaeological finds of ancient cities buried by volcanoes in Indonesia, similar to Pompeii? However, the strange thing is that most of these buried cities do not have human remains. Especially on the island of Java, the people have found a way to predict volcanic eruptions since ancient times. The most famous story is about Mpu Sindok, who was the 10th-century king who shifted the heart of the Mataram Kingdom from Central to East Java.

Stephanie is from tangerang, most of the people there speak indonesian for daily, not like bandung or surrounding area, they use sundanese in their daily, not just as subject at school.

That’s why Tagalog sounds like one of the regional languages in Indonesia cuz we have 700 languages

20 minutes late for jam karet is still polite, it can go into hours. I don’t think it’s about perception of time, more about people pleasing (can’t make the move to end a conversation to stick to schedule) and plainly disrespecting other people’s time because everybody does it. If you hang with Indonesians who are serious about stuff they are on time, even with Jakarta traffic, they just leave the previous location earlier to be on time

Bikin acara beginian antar bahasa lokal indonesia menarik sih

No girls. The definition of an island is that it should not drown even during a high tide. So all 17500 islands are always higher than the surface of the surrounding body water.

13:07 The saying goes that you will attract bad luck or ominous spirits if you cut yiu nails at night. Most SEA regions used to believe that our fingers are gateway for spirits to enter our bodies. In olden time, they would even put gold on their fingertips as protection

Indonesia is really extrarordinarily unique country with so many diversitey of cultures, ethnicities, tribes, languages, religions, islands, backgrounds, etc but we are one unity as an Indonesians people. The colourful different is beautiful. 🇮🇩❤

Pasti penontonnya banyak orang Indonesia nih channel😂🤣
