So the husband had a second relationship, lived with another woman in a secret apartment, and the other woman never did anything to find out his background?  If someone told me he was keeping me a secret, I'd be digging into his background in a second.  The ending of this story is unsatisfying, because we never find out if his mistress discovers he's a cheating scumbag!
