The root of this is self esteem. It's an uncomfortable truth indeed but even when it comes down to makeup. This wouldn't be a billion dollar industry if people were taught to truly love themselves and not seek validation. There's nothing wrong with wanting to mildly enhance your beauty. The issues arise when you're starting to look like a completely different person.
I watched something where a doctor was talking about how paralyzing the muscles in your face will make you look older faster, since the muscles will atrophy because you're not using them. It totally negates the idea of "preventative" botox.
Honestly at this point, I’m thankful I had such horrible acne during most of my life - it has taught me how to love myself no matter what I look like more than any surgery could.
this is like listening to my drug dealer tell how heroin is a "preventative" pain relief. yeah." "preventative aging" botox. its not preventative if you have to do it every 4 months.
I always find it weird that preventative Botox always ends up making girls look older. I see ladies in their 40’s who look good, but then girls in their late 20’s early 30’s who look older than the middle age ladies
I think using cosmetic surgery in order to correct actual flaws (burns, misshapen body parts etc) is one thing, even to an extent some minor improvements but one it starts making you look like an extra from Escape from LA (specifically the surgeon general scene) it is time to stop and plastic surgeons should have the requirement to question or refuse such procedures
You don’t have fine lines at 19. That’s called wrinkling up your face by making expressions. Dynamic lines aren’t lines. They’re just your face doing things other than resting
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending the cracks with lacquer dusted with gold, silver or platinum. It's a technique that celebrates the history & imperfections of an object, rather than trying to conceal them. Kintsugi embodies the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, which finds beauty in imperfection & transience. The philosophy encourages acceptance of flaws & the idea that damage & repair can add to an object's character/value.
I remember I was obsessed with the pink flower crown Snapchat filter. And after using that for all my pictures for like six months, I actually stopped liking how my real face looked in pictures. I decided that I wouldn't use filters on any pictures I posted online anymore. So I would still take pictures with filters, but they were for personal use only. Because of that, I feel I quickly stopped disliking how my real face looked, and preferring how filtered faces look.
Soon 39, never had anything "done", haven't worn makeup in years. The older I get, the less I care about how other people perceive my looks. I did when I was younger, but I don't anymore. Don't know how common that is with aging, but it's how it is for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
