Galai Meadows, also known as Gallai Meadows or Galai Maidan, is a beautiful and lesser-known mountain destination located in Gantar, Allai Valley, Battagram, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Surrounded by high mountains, green landscapes, forests and wide open grasslands, Galai Meadows is still far away from the crowded tourist destinations of northern Pakistan. Located at around 2,786 meters above sea level, Galai Meadows offers cool weather, fresh mountain air, peaceful surroundings and breathtaking natural scenery, making it a perfect destination for adventure lovers, nature lovers, photographers and camping enthusiasts.

The journey to Galai Meadows is also a big part of the adventure. The route includes rough mountain tracks, off-road sections and water crossings, and some parts can be difficult even for 4x4 vehicles. Galai Meadows is connected with other beautiful areas of Allai Valley, including routes towards Chawad Valley and Chawad Meadows, while Gangwal village and other mountain areas can also be reached from this region. The combination of difficult roads, green mountains, rivers, open meadows and remote landscapes makes Galai Meadows one of the interesting unexplored places to visit in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Our journey to Galai Meadows started from Karak Bazaar in Allai Valley. We travelled by bike and the first part of the road was quite manageable, with some potholes and rough patches. Before reaching Janbek, we had to cross a difficult water crossing where we rode through the water and our bikes even became hot. After reaching Janbek, rain started and we stopped there for a while. From Janbek onwards, the road became much more difficult and adventurous, with very rough off-road tracks where even 4x4 vehicles can struggle. Along the way, we passed beautiful green landscapes, rivers and areas that reminded us of the scenery of Leepa Valley in Kashmir.

We started our journey around 11 AM and finally reached Galai Meadows at around 6 PM. After such a long and adventurous bike journey, seeing the huge and beautiful Galai Meadows was truly worth it. We spent the night there and enjoyed camping in the peaceful mountains. The weather was cool with light rain and cloudy skies throughout the night and morning. Because of the clouds, we could not see the full mountain views, but the meadow itself was absolutely beautiful.

There are also government-built tourist facilities in the Galai Meadows area where visitors can stay, along with a small hotel for those who prefer not to camp. You can also bring your own camping gear and enjoy a night under the open sky. If you are visiting Gangwal village by jeep, Galai Meadows can also be reached from Gangwal in around half an hour, depending on road and weather conditions.
