"They can sense vibrations in the water using magic" fucking cracked me up

@randomontheinternet5883 11 days ago

My main takeaway from this video is that Steve Irwin gave crocs his best approximation of a night in Guantanamo in hopes they'll leave people alone afterwards.

45:40 Imaging being a conservationist and your job is "give the apex predator PTSD".

I grew up around alligators and for the most part they will not hunt you but they will attack you if you get too close. That doesn't mean they're trying to eat you that means they're trying to get you away from them. Crocodiles will slowly and secretly approach you with the idea of having you for dinner. They prefer eating other things but they'll eat you if you're available.

0:50 this is an alligator, you simpleton

It does seem like Sweetheart should maybe be excluded from any generalized statements we make because I think he might have just been stupid

Biggest difference between alligators and crocodiles?
There’s a 10 foot bull gator that lives around my main fishing spot. When he is around I don’t care. I give him space, he gets some sun, we cool
You wouldn’t catch me doing that with a crocodile half that size

@aerickmon3350 12 days ago

I dove into another sequel of “view you as prey” quicker than a crocodile

@scatman9166 10 days ago

33:18 worth noting that the “Sweetheart” they caught might not have actually been the Sweetheart responsible for the boat attacks. They just caught a large crocodile in the area where the attacks were happening and assumed they had caught the problem crocodile. Just a few years later an even larger croc who had also been attacking boats was captured less than a mile away. That croc was named Cassius and moved to a zoo at Green Island. When you look at Cassius’ snout it was covered in scars and sliced off at the end, while Sweetheart doesn’t have any injuries consistent with an animal who had supposedly been chewing on boat propellers for several years

Fun fact: despite what some have said, crocodiles have had a lot of changes over the millions of years, from ones that are fully terrestrial to armadillo crocodiles, a crocodile with a pelican like throat to even fully herbivorous crocs!

@CalebLanfranco 12 days ago

People don't understand how easy it is to hunt a person let alone when you're grabbed 6M+ reptile

@gabrielsfilms2086 12 days ago

crocodiles ALSO have shown minor tool use!

I'd be down for another 57 minute video but this time just watching aligators frolick and be stupid frogs near people

@WalksintheWild 9 days ago

Thank god I found this video, I was being attacked by a crocodile and luckily this was on my fyp, and after 13 minutes he finally told me the secret that saved my life. Thankyou.

@anothenblue2630 11 days ago

It should also be mentioned that, while we don't provide much value, crocs don't NEED much either. They're cold-blooded animals, they barely need to eat to continue functioning and crocs have decent fat storages. A human or two is gonna keep it fed for way longer than most other animals you worry about.

@albionnika 12 days ago

Noooo!! 😢 You didn't talk about the saltwater crocodile farms and how they get hit with a shovel to the face to learn to fear humans since 15% or so get released to the wild.

@PaladinRyan 12 days ago

Joe just casually speedrunning my irrational apex predator fears

@The_McRib_Is_Back 11 days ago (edited)

I would like to formally apologize for not watching the video for longer than a period of 50 seconds before expressing my dissatisfaction at the supposed lack of a distinguishment between the alligator and the crocodile.

@ashenlongbow1482 10 days ago

I've swum in lake Kariba.
It was the dumbest thing I've ever done.
I have no regrets because it means no matter how stupid I choose to be in future, I can always say that I've done something dumber.
