A night a ghost come to my house. I was staying in Queen Crescent and just across the main road there was a cemetery in those day. One day the government decided
to clear the cemetery and build HDB flats. This is now call Mei Chin Estate today. During this period, the newspapers will tell many stories about taxi drivers who had
encounter with ghosts. Usually the taxi drivers will tell stories that after their passengers arrived at their destination, they were paid money that turned to Hell money the next days. Since I lived near the cemetery,it was not a surprise that one
night I heard a ghost actually walked to my block in the middle of the night. I was
living on the third floor and I was listening to his steps right behind my door when he actually climbed up the stairs and stopped at my door. I could sensed his present as
he keep trying to find a way in. Finally he give up and climbed down the stairs and
walked back to where I first heard him near the cemetery.

In the episode on haunted highways, I have a story of Karak highway that most people wouldn't know, except lorry drivers.
My late uncle who was a lorry driver regularly used the Karak highway. He told me that near the location (after the Genting tunnel), there is a mountain spring run-off where they would wash their faces, refresh themselves, collect the water, etc. before continuing their journey. If tired, some lorry drivers will sleep in their lorry for a whole. The drivers know that they can only sleep in one side of the highway and with their head facing the forest/Highlands, feet facing the highway. Otherwise, they will be disturbed!

Buddha didn't discuss ghosts as spooky folklore but as a specific category of suffering beings just like humans are suffering beings. "Life is sufferings".

I realised that people nowadays tend to question and interpret traditional beliefs in their own way and it makes a passed down tradition bit toxic.. (ie, having sons to continue 香火 is selfish) nothing wrong to ask why but to word it as a selfish act is a completely different thing.

Which is why a lot of youngsters nowadays do not follow “uncool” typical Chinese beliefs. While a lot of Chinese practices are intertwined with folk beliefs it is the exact same thing that gives us our unique identity.
