Part 8 of my updated video build series of the Polar Lights 1:350 scale TOS Enterprise model kit. Here I finish the assembly of the lower hull and then move on to priming and painting it.

I must say I am really enjoying this series of videos. I think the extra depth in this series takes it to a very high level. The fact that you are not only an exceptional modeler but an excellent teacher means that I am just unable to take my eyes off the video or even pause it. Absolutely brilliant.

I think that the Polar Lights folks should pay Boyd residuals for every model of TOS Enterprise sold for doing these videos and inspiring all of us to try building the 1/350! We so appreciate ALL of Boyd's wonderful tips and tricks and insights into building such realistic film quality models!

These videos are fantastic. I've has this kit in my stash for years and have always been afraid to get its started. The step-by-step details are extremely helpful and make building this kit (and making it look good) seem far less difficult. Thanks again!

Boyd, you have an awesome system on how to build this kit. Watching your early TOS builds you have improved every time on how you build this awesome ship! You are the science guy of model building!

Hi, many thanks for the tips on doing the Duck Egg Blue part of the ship. Here is a solution that can finally calm my OCD regarding a more correct finish.
For so long I have seen other people (and myself) use the recommended aforementioned color, only to see once its applied that it stands out to an almost obnoxious level.
When you look at the film models like Reliant and refit Enterprise the Duck Egg Blue does almost look grey and in darker shots you'd swear it was grey.
Yet on many non studio built models you see that blue and it has always looked overpowering against the hull colors.

Trekworks put up the next part of the TOS Enterprise build. I get to spend an hour literally watching paint dry!! (And I'm saying that without the least bit of irony!)

Really nice work. I like how meticulous you are. I would never be able to do that. You have all the right tools. Very nice. You are the only one I have seen that includes such great detail.

Hair dryer (replacement): I found a nail dryer to be ideal. Following your methods, of course! But I found my heat gun to be a tough unit to haul around for minutes at a time. The nail dryer is small-- works though! Cheap enough to get two (for when one drops dead!)

I can only hope my 1/350 scale Refit turns out as good as the TOS one you're working on now most likely will Boyd.
