They weren't igniter failures. They were the gods of rocketry telling you to wait until the light was perfect. Fantastic footage!

This feels like an idea that was thought up with a lot of Christmas spirit and a lot of Christmas spirits.

Thanks for yeeting the crap out of a tree with me :)

Xyla being an absolute dork in elf clothes for half an hour is exactly the Christmas gift I didn't know I desperately needed.

@Rebelbass890 4 years ago

Requirements for a tree:
1. Be merry
2. Spark joy
3. Have exactly 4 inch diameter trunk to slide it into the booster tube.

This is what I say to my family every year.

Okay, whoever did the lights - YOU rock. You in particular. Didn't even flicker, not even on impact!

Apart from being sad that no-one talked about "elf and safety" for christmas in the workshop, that was completely epic! Congratulations to everyone on a stunning launch!

Ms Foxlin, I probably have said this before: May you grow very old, but never grow up! Fantastic project!!!

No elves or reindeer were injured during the filming of this video.... but several GoPro cameras were scared to failure. Merry Christmas

Having lost a daughter and too many friends, acquaintances, and work colleagues to suicide, I have nothing but admiration to those work work and /or use their voice in this space. Thank you.

Huge shoutout to the guy running the schedule, that's an important job and he was rocking it. What a great team and fantastic project, congrats to all of you!

Those "ugly Christmas sweater" suits/dresses were amazing, although I will admit to being slightly disappointed when the camera got in close enough for me to realize it was patterned print fabric and not actually that someone had knitted suits and dresses like that. Still, all worth it for an outstanding launch of a surprisingly aerodynamic tree.

Today wasn´t a grat day for me, when I saw your tweet about the new video I was about to cry and was feeling depressed for many reasons, I clicked to come here and while the video advanced your happiness started to spread into me, was a very good feeling, I wish you, Xyla and your friends the greatest of the joys and a very happy holidays.
It was a surprise then come to the point of the video where you both mention this could be a rough time for some people, the support of the charity you are doing just made me burst into tears like this was a message to remind me that is ok to feel a lot of things, this hit me very hard and I dont even know why I am sharing this but I want to thank you for this and for being part of my year, I discovered your channel a few months ago and since then your videos help me to think, be amazed as always with science and to smile a little more due to the great and happy energy you give on them. Thank you one and a thousand times for being the incredible person you are.

I've suspected it for a while and seeing Xyla in her traditional clothing confirmed that she actually is a magical elf.

After weeks of twitter memes ive finally realized. christmas means to me watching my favorite youtubers doing holiday content and spending time with family

@nrdesign1991 4 years ago

30:45 How Yoshi clings on is so cute! Understandably, after he got flown up almost into space

@alonespirit9923 4 years ago

Though delayed, launch at that daylight level added to the attractiveness of the flight.

@Brixxter 4 years ago

This project made me feel christmasy for the first time in years and that means a lot

All we learn here is that Xyla should NEVER be left unsupervised

Best tree launch I've seen in my 62 years of doing rocketry. Better than my three tree launches and the enthusiasm these young engineers show make me secure in the future of humanity
