Johnny Knoxville (Jackass, Pretty Sure I Can Fly) joins us this week to share his early aspirations for show business, how those led to his addiction to wild and crazy stunts on Jackass, and how the latter contributed to his mind and body hitting a unfortunate breaking point.

Johnny really opens up this week about his upbringing - sharing how he made amends with the past, but is still dealing with the ramifications of its trauma today.

We also share horror stories of working with certain actors and directors, a shared intro to professional praise through Grease, and the joys of living with pain.

Knoxville has one of the funniest and most infectious laughs. It's great 😅😂

Listening to this episode now and I am learning so much about him. Johnny is so down to Earth. I am enjoying hearing his behind the scenes stories.

This show is so good. I discovered it with the Kevin Smith episode, because the algorithm pulled me to it, and now I watch every episode.

I just finished listening to this episode and I learned so much about him. Johnny definitely opened up and had so many great stories. He definitely is grounded. His podcast sounds fascinating. I will definitely have to check it out. Have a great week everyone.

I didn't think I'd be interested in this because I don't like jackass, but was surprised that I did find it interesting. Gave me a different perspective on him.

Never expected a guest like Knoxville. Grew up on Jackass! Awesome interview!

The “shit… I don’t know” hit me way harder than it should have hahaha

For better or worse, the Jackass crew were role models and inspirations for me growing up in the late 90s and into the 2000s.

For as much as they showed me what not to do, they also showed me how to live and how to be a friend… how to form community.

I’ve always thought they were comedic geniuses - modern day Buster Keatons with edge. I’m happy so many of them are still with us and doing well. RIP Dunn 💯❤️

Butterbean knockout. Bulls are knocking him over. The bravest human ever. Love him.

Johnny Knoxville is like a modern day Buster Keaton, especially in terms of the stunts and gags he’s done. Legends, both of them.

Great interview! Everyone understandably loves Knoxville for the era-defining cultural phenomenon that was Jackass; but for me I genuinely think 'The Ringer' is one of the most underrated goofball 2000s comedies & it still brings me joy to this day as a (now) middle aged version of the young dude I then was when I first saw it at the cinema! Thanks Michael! Can you get any of the cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on your Podcast? I love your guest appearance and character in their episode 5 from the 1st season & It's been 19 years since that episode first aired on FX. So maybe if you release a video of you interviewing any of the cast in 2025, to coincide with and celebrate the show's 20th anniversary (and 20 years since you appeared on their debut season), then that'd be a meaningful angle from which to approach the interview(s)! I bet neither you nor they can believe it would last 20 years and counting! :-)

Such a cool dude, lucky to be alive too, he's always great in the films he appears in.

Knoxville in the house. Dukes of Hazzard taking over from Tom Wopat for the film was awesome.

Love the behind the scenes material on the Dracula laserdiscs. My other favorite part was when Gary explains how looking at polaroids of his kids helped him lock into that melancholic headspace. Dude was intense back in the day!
