Thriller was a Dance challenge nearly 40 years before TikTok dance challenges existed

MJ eating popcorn is a classic meme

Thriller is THE most influential music video. Music videos can literally be categorized as before and after Thriller

“Now it’s a K-pop video.” My guy, where do you think K-pop got its inspiration?

It's an objective truth that this is the BEST music video ever made.  Not debatable.  It's also the reason we expect bonus material and behind the scenes footage with our video releases.  Revolutionary on many fronts.

And No CGI in sight

its crazy how the song in the music video is structured completely different than the song in the album

Genuinely the most ICONIC mv of all time.

This mv is genuinely so iconic, and as a kpop fan, i can really see how much it influences modern kpop mvs. Its honestly crazy how he did all this in the 1980s.

Thriller is the GOAT of music videos. It's not even a contest.

One of the most incredible music videos of all time. Thanks Jordan for breaking it down.

This man says, "Now it's a KPOP music video" when KPOP wouldn't be where it is if MJ didn't exist. It's a MJ music video, no other artist or group can match MJ.

There is no question whatsoever that this is the best music video of all time.  There is a reason it is still talked about and imitated to this day... 40 years later.  Nothing will ever compare.  Michael wasn't even once in a lifetime- he was a once in 3-4 lifetime creative genius.

It breaks my heart that my kids have had to grow up in a world where he isn't here.

This was directed by John Landis who also directed "An American Werewolf in London" that won the very first Academy Award for Best Makeup at the 54th Oscars in 1982.

YESSSS i could talk about this mv forever.

others talk about the how good the song or video is but the thing that is on my mind is michael jackson is clearly a shapeshifting necromancer that uses his power to prank people

The budget for this short film was $500k, which is equivalent to $1.5-2 million in today's world. At that time, as you showed it yourself, music videos like this were unheard of. He set the trend for upcoming artists!

Thriller combined a supernova, multi-grammy, 2x rock and roll hall of famer, #1 all time album selling pop star , a Tony and Emmy award winning choreographer (Michael Peters) an Oscar award winning movie  special effects/makeup artistic creator (John Landis) and the top horror voice over actor (Vincent Price).
It is still streamed every Halloween and still the best after all this time.

MJ saw "An American Werewolf in London" and thought "I wanna do something like that". That's why he got John Landis to direct and most of the FX crew to work with him to create 'Thriller'. And that's why it's so good and has this movie-like quality. Vincent's voice was just the icing on the cake.

A little fun fact. The zombie at 14:50 is Rick Baker. He's the renowned make-up artist behind all the creations including where Michael turns into a werewolf.
