Thank you so much. Today a Red lored amazon that looks like a juvenile fell on my great Aunt's head in the backyard, we had an extra bird cage and brought them in. Since they are not native to Miami Florida where I am, I believe they escaped or got released from a home. I'm not so sure what to do with them cause I do wanna keep them, but this definitely helped!

I've taken in a 15 year old Blue Fronted Amazon whose owner passed away. The only way they ever handled getting him out of his cage was to throw a towel over him or just harshly grab him and pull him out. We've already had to do the same to get him to the vet. Now he doesn't want any hands in his cage, etc. How can I begin target training with him?

A friend of mine could no longer give her African Grey the attention and care it needed so she asked me if I would like to have her. I said YES! as I  already have a Senegal Parrot that has been with me since he was a few months old. He is going to be 27 years old in February. The AG is in her 40's. I have a big learning curve here as she is still adjusting after a week. I finally coaxed her out of the cage and let her explore on top of it for a few hours. Giving her praises and treats talking to her. She will take treats like pine nuts and almonds from my finger, but will not step up on my hand or arm or presenting a perch for her to step on. I need to get her back in the cage without her biting me, nor do I want to use gloves.

I have a 25 plus year old amazon who was given to me after being at many different homes. Shes very mean and will try and attack you anytime she gets a chance and also laugh after she tries to bite you. I have not been able to handle her at all outside of her cage. Any tips?

Can I asked for some tips? I have two African gray parrots, a male and a female. The female bird is still aggressive, but the male bird is calm, I think he is at that stage where you should start putting your hand into the cage so he can get used to it, but every time I do the female bird attack me, would you recommend that I separate them into two different cage or should I get the female bird to be used to me too?

what if i have two outdoor aviary budgies that are adults. should i give them back bc its too late or is it likely that they’re able to be tamed?

I have a 12-13 Year old African Grey. I took him from my late Nan. I’ve had him for almost 2 years now but he will never let me handle or touch him out of his cage.

If he’s in the cage I can put my hand right up against him, pet his beak etc and almost let him initiate touching and he’s fine. I can touch his feet etc, but all while he’s in the cage through the bars.

For whatever reason and trying time after time, I cannot get him to step up or really interact with him outside the cage.

Any ideas?

i just got myself a ringneck. the petshop was putting it in a horrible condition... so, i bought it. i thought i would leave it out of the cage and let it fly around my house and just leave it alone, hoping it can see that im not harming it, rather just let it do its own thing. im just watching this video now while watching it fly around and idk how to put him back inside the cage without gloves and towels..😅

My parrots have been with me for about 4 months I can’t get my hands on either of them. I can pet the female. I would really like some help. I don’t know if you actually read you comments but im in over my head and breeding season is coming and I also don’t know what I’m doing. Apparently I’m supposed to change their diet??
