It's actually amazing how Sun Wukong is the most popular character in Journey to the West even though he's technically not the Main Protagonist

It's funny how Nux fell into the classic trap. I have seen so many people watch the prelude that is the Great Sage Equal to Heaven's rise to power and think that it constitute the journey to the west before they realise it's just the prequel lol.

Nux missing the biggest flex of all flexes - yes, he couldn't escape Buddha's palm, but he flexed on Buddha in the most petty way possible. For who else in this universe or any other, can stand and truthfully say that they pissed on Buddha and got away with it

fun fact, his “protector of horses” titles do came up during the actual journey. because when you get a job from the celestial court, its not just a title. all horse can be tame by him, and he used it a few times to calm horses during the journey

Fun fact: the whole of sun wukongs story is just the prologue to journy to the west getting trapped under a mountain until anime protag of the story shows up and uses a god level item to make sun wukong his bodyguard, kinda like in inuyasha.

They put him in charge of the "Peaches of Immortality".... The DELICIOUS. PEACHES. OF IMMORTALITY... Bro you could feel the narrator judge their intelligence from that line. 😂

Nux REALLY needs to watch Overly Sarcastic Productions' series on Journey to the West. This video barely touched upon the actual journey itself, which is where Wukong's character development largely takes place, and OSP presents the journey in such a way that it's both humorous AND informative. I know I'm not the first person to comment this, but that doesn't mean I agree any less; I just wanna make sure that the Boss gets the best possible lore.

These are the characters that inspired the ones in Dragonball.
34:12 Tien shinhan
49:42 Oolong
50:21 Yamcha
14:38 Ox King
45:15 Bulma

There are probably more, but these are the ones I know.

In Folklore, the JinGuBang wasn't a pillar of the Dragon King's Palace but was the Pillar that held/sealed the Sea, correct me if Im wrong but its removal is the reason why we have tides, tsunamis, and crazy ocean storms.

The Dragon Kings didn't give him the armor, they actually told Wukong to put the pillar back, but Wukong refused, so they tried to take it back by force and Wukong beat the shit out of them and was like, how about a suit of armor for all my troubles.

Additionaly, when he comes out of the Gourd, he was actually blessed with special eyes that basically did the same thing as ErLangShen's third eye.

"Thoroughly drunk and immortal" is now one of my favorite lines ever 🤣

Strongly reccomend Overly Sarcastic Productions take on Journey to the West

Sun Wukong woke up one morning and decided to be everyone else's problem lol

I still think his biggest flex was also his smartest when they tried to stop him with indestructible gates, doors that could not be damaged by anything. He broke the walls down around the gates and left the doors standing untouched since he wasn't going to waste his time on them.

Nux, please do a reaction to overly sarcastic productions journey to the west

@shaymcleod5735 2 years ago

The timeline in The Journey To The West is fantasy but the story itself came around during the Ming dynasty during the 1500s

So Erlang Shen, the guy they sent, hates the Celestial Court too. The Jade emperor kidnapped his mother because she had the gall to fall in love with a mortal man, and they even kidnapped his siblings. So he took his axe, which can also expand in size like Wukong's Staff, and split the mountain in half that his mom was sealed under.

Nezha was another guy they sent,a nd he also rebels against the Celestial Court all the time.
