Hello everyone! There are some people who think us youtuber's are LYING about our expierences in Cambodia. So is it true?

Dentists in the US want to charge $2000 for a crown . What’s the definition of a scam? 😂 I lived in SEA almost two years. In the States I feel like I’m constantly overcharged for everything . Especially medical and car repairs

Hi Dave, thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙏 I follow quite a lot of FB profiles about Cambodia and especially – Siem Reap. And recently, since few weeks, I noticed real flood of negative comments under them. Comments accusing Cambodia and the Khmer people of scam. But when I'm checking authors of such comments – most of them come from... Thailand. So, what can be said...

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts.  Thanks

Dave, don't pay too much attention to the negative reactions. I have been to Cambodia a few times. I love your videos. They are realistic. Thank you and I hope you go on making these fantastic videos.

Thanks Dave, these people would complain if they won the lottery, love your videos, take care.

Everyone is different, I don’t listen to gossip. I have watched a large variety of content providers. Then I weeded out the drunks, those with a chip on their shoulder and several other things I dislike about what I hear. Then I kept watching for a very long time. I have asked many questions and weeded out some more videos. The viewer needs to adapt and if they can’t the place is not for them. We must be completely honest with ourselves. Look at the good, bad and the ugly before you leap

Only scam I saw frequently in Phnom Phen was tuk tuk drivers telling you the palace was close but "I'll give you tour of city" when the palace was not closed.

I bought solar lights from Costco, Home Depot and Amazon with different prices.  This can be interpreted as scam from large businesses too.  It is part of life routine.,,

The worst thing about living in Cambodia for a while is leaving Cambodia for any length of time.
The retro culture shock is real.
If Cambodia leaves one wanting then that person is free to depart.
Cambodia doesn't need YouTube upselling.

I have never been scammed by a single person in Cambodia.

I live here for almost 10yrs.  It's as close to paradise as it gets FOR ME.
Nowhere is perfect, but the respect factor alone makes this ideal.  There is a saying.... believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.  Don't base your decisions on FB or YouTube.  Visit and see for yourself.

Dave, you are 100% accurate in this video. I have lived here for about 3 1/2 years now. I have not ever been scammed nor taken advantage of in my dealings here. These people that go around looking for the perfect place will never be happy in their life. There is no perfect place. Cambodia checks most of the boxes if you’re willing to go with the flow and just chill out. I’ve been blessed in my life and been to many countries. There are no countries that are perfect. My home country of the US is not perfect. I rather dwell on the positive of every place I go. But the Cambodian people are some of the most kind people that you will ever run into anywhere in the world. I can’t speak for Western Europe or Australia, but in the US if you’re shopping for stuff, you can find the same and I’ll use your example frying pan for 10 different prices. If you look around enough it’s no different here. The problem is in old days. They said bad news sells newspaper well bad news gets more clicks and positive news on YouTube and wherever else they’re posting. The shame of some of these people is they’re just looking for clicks to make money. I’ve always appreciate your channel. Also autumn in Asia with Kelly. Also the YouTube channel  For Reil have always been very accurate and honest. Keep up the good work. I’m sorry for the long post but I get tired of these people that post stuff and they don’t even know what they’re talking about and they’ve blown through town for two weeks and think they know everything.

When I was in retail in Australia I sold the same mattress for 3 different prices on the same day. Negotiation by both the customers and retailers is paramount. No different to the markets in SEA, and especially if it is done with respect.

Nonsense… we have to do our own due diligence before we purchase whether we live in USA, EU, or Cambodia.

Did the monologue go at the problem sideways? Did those that complained mean, non-khmer are targeted and charged more?
From what is said in the video, sounds like everyone is a potential target of a swindle.
Bartering over transparency is naturally entirely at the discretion of Khmer people, the discord sounds to stem from that.

They think the price thing doesn't happen in America????😂😂😂😂😂

Decent comments Dave

Maybe 2 or 3 cities in Cambodia are suitable for a comfortable retirement. But I've known little old ladies and men on some kind of personal or religious mission making a go of it for many years out in the provinces. Getting 'scammed' by a tuk tuk driver or stallholder are the least of problems. There are many potential pitfalls in any project or ambition here, and you need to provide your own safety net.

Well, well.  Everybody is different.  But everybody needs to understand that wherever you go you arrive as a guest. If you do not realise that, you will never be able to accommodate anywhere.
