I feel like it’s important to know that by the time the vow renewal episode aired, Jon and Kate had already separated but weren’t allowed to discuss it

It breaks my heart that Cara was such a daddies girl and Kate destroyed their relationship

Imagine being one of the kids and having your parents fly the entire family across the country to renew their vows, saying again and again that they're going to be together forever, only for them to tell you a year later that they're getting divorced. That had to be really hurtful and confusing.

Mady is a savage for telling Kate she doesn’t wana be her maid of honor 😅

It’s sad to think that if Kate had gotten help, probably for a personality disorder of some type, they may have worked as a family. Bums me out how much trauma she brought to others because she was too prideful to get help for her issues

As a mom of 5 and a teacher of 16 years- your assessment of her parenting is spot on. 😊

the hawaii episodes are the only episodes that i have vivid memories of watching as a kid

Speaking as a teacher, you have to teach children to self regulate. Punishing a child teaches them to be ashamed of her feelings. Behavior is communication.

I love when Kate says, "Not all moms and Dad's stay together." And Jon looks at the camera like he just had a lightbulb moment of realization that he actually has options

I never noticed this so much until you said it. Maddy really just needed extra attention and wasn’t getting all her needs met. You can see her demeanor completely change when it’s one-on-one with her and Kate and she acts like a different child omg. She just needed time with her mom without 7 other kids taking the attention away.

Mady is me, internally, when I was asked to be a maid of honor

It's even more heartbreaking watching the kids react positively to Kate's statements that they'll be together forever given that, at least according to Jon in the "Dark Side of the 2000s" documentary episode, they were already in the process of separating but the network was basically trying to threaten him into staying with Kate.  What whiplash those kids must have gone through.

Mady grew up to ostracize Collin... the impact of this type of treatment definitely is profound. I'm not a parent, but surely they could have helped her express herself in better ways.

Nanny here, I hope they are paying Jenny around the clock if they are making her share a room with two kids 😬 I would never agree to that.

I love when people say that you can't have opinions on child-rearing because you're not a parent. Sure you haven't been a parent, but you have been a child. Not saying that makes someone an expert or anything, but it is experience. Dani you, like everyone else whose ever been a child, have every right to comment on poor parenting and make suggestions for improvement.

Hoping you also cover Kate plus 8 !!? That would be amazing !

“Interesting take on god”😂

I REMEMBER WATCHING THESE AS A KID 😅 I love that you’ve been covering this show

Just want to say the way you have done this series has been amazing. This show has been one of my interests for years! I started collecting the dvd’s when I was little and would watch it so much growing up. I’m grown now, in college and the fact someone is covering how much went down is so fulfilling of my little heart. Your opinions and comments are so important and I love your summarizations. Thank you for these!!

Vow renewal is the kiss of death for a marriage. They are a last ditch attempt to save a marriage on life support
