I've played Riftbound since day 1 and never played another card game before this. I can say this past 8-9 months has been so much fun and I am completely addicted to this game. I've made so many new friends and made so many great memories and I cant recommend this game enough to everyone.

I played mtg since 2012. I haven’t touched the game in 6 months now. I’m sick of rising prices, quality control issues, product selling out in 30 minutes, and Universes Beyond in general. Mtg is a shadow of its former self, and while I will cherish the many memories and friends I made along the way, I don’t think I’ll ever go back. I tried many different games to fill that void, and Riftbound has become one of my favorites.

i played FaB, mtg, Swu, lorcana and shadow verse evolve. Riftbound so far is by far my favorite gameplay wise. and imo the art in riftbound is also insane. To me, riftbound is literally magic but better

For 1 vs 1 players: I started playing MTG in 1998. Sold my collection in 2024 and started looking for a new TCG. I'm glad I've found Riftbound, it's clearly a safe haven for those frustrated with the current disregard of the company. There are currently 0 reasons to be a Magic player today if 1 vs 1 is your jam. You’ll try hard, spend a lot of money trying to be a Premodern player over nostalgia, and will end up just as frustrated as you are today.

I’ve been playing riftbound for a month now. Even picked up a laptop to run riftatlas. Now I can play any deck for free and not spend money on wildcards for arena mtg. Loving the game right now

As someone who got into MTG in decemeber and was loving it, commander wasnt my scene and standard is too expensive to keep up with with 6+ sets a year.

I got into riftbound on Unleashed Prerift just to try it and it was a blast and then after seeing card prices and how comparatively cheap decks were I went all in. Its honestly been a lot of fun and I even already went to a major 10k event for it. Ive opened a total of like 5 boxes of cards (2 of which I just got from riot today) and have a small but solid community at my lgs where ive been able to get basically all the cards I want for decks I wanna play.

Needless to say riftbound is a great game and if you dont wanna be spending thousands on a deck thats playable for memes or for competitive, then riftbound is the game. Esp with it only being 3 sets deep (4 at end of july) its the perfect time to pick it up and learn it.

Quit MTG a few years ago. Never looked back. Hasbro is to blame.

I like to say Spiritforged and Unleashed were buffer printed meaning there is a surplus supply but allows them to ramp up printing the new sets without the outcry for reprinting those sets while they get the new sets out. I expect some singles to drift back up in price as supply gets absorbed and hopefully more new players enter the game.

2:22 I had this same thing happen at my last Nexus night. My round 2 opponent was a Magic player trying his first Riftbound event. He mentioned that he was really tired of keeping up with the constant release of MTG products and lackluster support for competitive circuits and events.

I've played around 5 TCGs over the last 20 years and Riftbound (apart from some of the release supply issues) has been one of the most well supported ones I've ever played.

The thing that I like about it the most outside of the gameplay is that the devs actually evolve themselves in the community and communicate. Playing a lot of Japanese games growing up, it was so common for the devs to be locked away in corporate offices and only communicating through official PR statements. It always felt like they were so disconnected from the community.

Been a month but have consistently been winning nexus nights and just managed to participate in my first big tourney in singapore, also got to secure best of leona in it so pretty happy to have ditched MTG for this.

I was at two RQs so far, one time as Competitor, Second time for only side events. Had a lot of fun both times.. but it being my first Cardgame and not being very good I enjoyed the Side Event RQ more! Many Fun Interactions and I really like the Events Riot sets up there :)

Been playing roftbound since december when the only origins box one could get was at paris france at the TFT event or pay too much. It has been so refreshing to play riftbound from set 1 and way more like a card game than yugioh where a die roll decides games from turn 1. Its been a blast playing and i eventually got one of my favorite champs from league master yi!

I already have riftbound decks...I will be getting them out at a skrimish this weekend!

I play Riftbound mostly but I’m always going to keep my Dino deck for MTG and still enjoying playing it too.

I play both mtg and riftbound.
On the mtg side i play casual commander and pauper. Unfortunately the main pain points with mtg is being priced out of most formats and reprint policy. cards specially for eternal formats can be priced insanely and let's not get started with the reserved list and universes beyond being either a hit or a complete miss.
Riftbound has issues too, i went to a couple of nexus nights and most people still have trouble with rules.

All that being said both are great community wise, i've never really had a bad experience with either community and the crossover between these two communities is big.
I think we still have to wait for a couple more sets to see a riftbound phase where we see mechanics that were underexplored come back.
Also the rewards for casual nights of riftbound are way better than any mtg event i've ever been to.

I play MTG competitive, formats like Modern and STD. At the moment I still playing both, both have their own “magic”. I loved Riftbound since it cut a lot of the luckyness of MTG having the runes/lands aside the main deck. Being a TCG mostly and at the moment(Lux) combat centered has made me revive that love to play chess on a TCG. I started playing MTG out of chess since chess for me was to boring. But MTG right now is like going to a casino, most of the games are land situational but that luck makes you feel rewarded. Riftbound in the other hand a casual player can beat anyone for a wrong play since it is way more punishable on the miss plays and I love that. For me is way more rewarding winning in Riftbound because it was more of my ability than being lucky at the time.

And because of the prices or the set mtg release? It is part of every TCG, in a Year we will be playing RB with more than 5 set at the same time. Giving price spikes on specifics cards for meta game. It is true that mtg is killing their competitive area with so much product but competitive is not where is the money right now. Commander player buy anything so there goes competitive. RB has introduce something like it, but is a team work not a political argument every turn. Love the idea of RB maintaining the “1v1” on those 4 player format.

I’m a huge MTG player. I got over 30 commander decks. I got sealed products, I got to almost every prerelease with a group of friends, and I have to say riftbound is more fun and I know nothing about LoL.

i don't know if someone already asked about this but, not being able to have a good experience to play online, since there is no offical website or app to play the game with proper UI , makes a lot of people give up on the game. For instance for begginers, going into Rift Atlas or wtv, the experience is beyond terrible, so i really don't understand why don't they do something friendly for players even tho i know they want to keep the IRL thing going on, it's just too hard for both people in school or in work to start playing the game trying to attend events, it's much easier they try online and then translate to being casual game at events or go pro.

While clunky and having a steep learning curve... I'm happy to play a TCG that doesn't have an identity crisis.

Ive played MTG for nearly 27 years now and competitive Magic is pretty much dead. Its basically only commander being played at shops now and i honestly cant remember the last time i drafted. Wizards has the best game that is ran by the worst people. They've been dropping the ball for years now and we now have a slew of new games to choose to play. I was introduced to Riftbound by a fellow cEDH the week of release. He had a proving grounds set and we played a few games with those decks. I started learning more and more and i became hooked. This is an easy switch for me because i dont like the direction magic is going. Gundam is another game doing well in my area that several magic players decided to go to.
