I had a doctor shame me after calculating my BMI.
My passion is powerlifting, and I do my best to eat mostly healthy. But my BMI is also around 29. I'm not perfect, but I take care of myself.
I'm just very grateful that I didn't spiral into a terrible relationship with food and fitness after dealing with that horrible doctor.

I love catching up with house of maher while working out. Talking about being strong and a book nerd and same age makes working out feel like cozy time and not "ahh it hurts" time.

I love Ilona‘s reaction. “Oh, mom‘s complaining the classes are expensive, huh? Well I’m not getting all this money from all these endorsements for nothing. BAM! I just tossed your cost excuse out the window mom!” LOL

We had a terrible experience with BMI and our BABY. A literal 1 year old all the way until 3. I had to change doctors but basically BMI does not take, genetics, race, metabolism etc into account.

My little super active toddler wasn't gaining weight as fast as the doctor we had would have liked and he was subjected to so many blood tests. Which, I understand, they wanted to rule out anything bad but also, everytime I said, little man eats like a teenage boy. Not picky, ate everything and was a frequent eater. All day long because he was always buzzing with energy (still is) we are a petite family and when I finally had enough of my poor son having to do constant blood and other types of tests, I changed doctors. The relief I felt when that doctor said, "Well I'm looking at you and I'm looking at your husband and you're both petite. As long as this kid keeps growing and doesn't start losing weight, I'm gonna assume this will just be his body type." Wouldn't you know it the kid is just súper lanky. Even now at 10 he needs special clothes to tighten around his waist haha cause he keeps growing taller but not wider. We need more doctors who understand family genetics.

I learned very early in life that BMI was a meaningless number. I'm a short male ex-rugger (5'5"-185 when I played).
I was constantly being told that I was obese because my BMI was over 30. I knew it was BS because I literally could not float in water without some treading water movement. Not even salt water.
I remember getting into a pool once and walking through the deep water to the other end. My friends were shocked. "How did you do that?'
As a rugger from the '70s onward I recognized that MJ was wearing an old school rugby jersey the instant she appeared. I know the look right down to the fraying collar. My closet is still full of frayed collar jerseys. They are just so damn comfortable.

I love seeing si doing different bodies and athletes...I hate the horrible comments I still see men making in comments section on Instagram. But live for the positivity and support of others. These woman deserve all the praise and support.

If MJ wrote a book I’d DEFINITELY read it!

So… yesterday, between homework sessions, I would check back to make sure my comment didn’t disappear. But it always did. I reposted it truly 4 times, and at 12:30am, sitting in the high school parking lot waiting for my kiddo to get off the bus from his school trip, I checked again. Gone. I posted again. Gone (because… now it’s a little like a Groundhog Day game to me). And today… gone. Is it me? Salt Typhoon? Whaaaa?

Either way, I just wanted to recommend a good book adaptation. Amazon made the best-selling Regency romance, Seeking Persephone into a four episode limited series.. It’s swoon worthy and perfect. Beautiful cinematography and amazing cast.

And yes… because it’s kind of gamified now, and I have relentless  ADD hyper-focus, I will check back later to make sure this one got through.

Out of curiosity I did just check my BMI and it’s 37 — not just obese but obesity 2 😅

I’m 230lbs, my ideal weight is around 180-190 when I felt my best and healthiest and that’s still a 29-30 BMI (I was this weight when I was bodybuilding)
