Getting 99 years and letting the guy out after only serving 9 is such an injustice

So multiple people say they watched the girls get lured into a car by a strange man and the police interpreted that as them "running away"? That's insane.

Honestly this case is heart breaking. From two young girls who lost their chance at life. Grief-stricken and psychologically destroyed parents. The disrespect in the way the girls bodies were left. The cover up by the police. To the girls idol getting involved. For every little moment of hope, there is a million of awful, terrifying moments...
Whoever did it, I hope they regretted it and lived in crushing guilt for the rest of their life. Poor girls, I hope somehow someday, we will know for sure who did this.

I just found your channel and it's my favorite for mysteries. You don't waste time with the paranormal bullshit that dominates true crime on YouTube.

One thing I’ve learned about these old cases is that times were sooo different back then (and I was a teen in the 80’s).. kids just went out alone and stayed out so late and then walked home at such young ages…. I would never ever let my son or daughter do that today.. even with cell phones. 😰

Melquist having a seemingly normal life after being released could be explained as the mob deciding that he was too reckless and/or impulsive to be useful but not likely to rat them out. He may have even still been working for them in far less visible roles.

1:35 they probably walked - I grew up in the 60s, and I wouldn’t think twice about walking that far, or farther. It was just how you got places.

My mom was only 4 years old when this happened (so I didn't exist for another few decades myself), but still having spent my whole life in the Chicagoland area, just all the landmarks & local establishments/newspapers/etc. mentioned in this case, it's majorly creeping me out.

love your videos! really enjoy your dry commentary, makes everything less bleak. gotta go with occam's razor on this one, the solution with the most evidence behind it and least amount of problems (melquist) is probably the solution

Please keep posting videos! I love your content and the way you speak!

This reminds me of the boys on the tracks. You should do one on the boys on the tracks. It's not my hometown fortunately, but I'm sure some future viewer lives in Arkansas.

That was really interesting and you are an excellent researcher in my humble opinion. I’ve been watching true crime for probably about six years, I would say and I’ve never heard of this case previously. Thanks for your work. 😊

My mother is from Skokie, Illinois and this was before her time but she knew about this case early in life. My Zeide (her dad) still lives there so we go to Chicago a few times a year. This case really gets me. Them and these 3 boys who were taken and unalived. That case was still being brought up decades later and eventually involved Helen Brach and horse doping (the guy doping the horses did in the boys and Helen Brach, I think). I think it was Brach. She was a candy heiress.
Chicago cops…..almost as bad as LA cops

Got all excited there for a minute. Thought this was a new one. I may as well go ahead and watch it again before YT gets any more ideas. Sorry the YT powers took it down. From memory this was a good one. I think you did a couple of videos on this topic. Hope they all stay up.
