A low shelf would be better. A low cut can  cause phase issues sometimes

You need bigger headphones my dude.

I immediately trust anyones audio advice when they have headphones bigger than my studio monitors. 😂

title was bait guys... my mixing skills improved by 127%

126% of 0% is still 0% 😞

Summary
1. Leave below 150 HZ for kick and bass—use EQ
2. Use (little) OTT for thicker sounds
3. Group the drums(+kicks) and add OTT on that = glued sound
4. Sidechain kick to bass other instruments—gives room for uninterrupted kicks
5. Use reference tracks—comparing with a similar good-sounding track helps you to make your track sound good

Everytime i watch your videos my day is 126% better

Honestly the bassline and rhythm on this set are completely out of this world ✨

I swear these headphones are getting bigger with every video.
Soon they will have devoured you.

i gave up, or rather, permanently took a temporary break in producing around 10 years ago. i got so sucked into to eqing and mixing so much, that most of my time spent in daw was spent trying to make things "sound good", while before most time was spent creating and working with sounds and delay effects and all that fancy stuff. i dont know if it was my genre or what, but most videos were about the pop edm and making things LOUD but working, or "making sure your eq is .000001 perfect frequency". i got lost.

this video is what i needed those many years ago. its like i was going at a block of ice with a sledge hammer to create a sculpture. (im bad at metaphors, but basically, you gave me a tool that while it takes big chunks off, it wont destroy the whole ice block, and lets me do the fine tuning later.) basically, i might slide back into the hobby. need to work my creative muscle, i forgot how most of the things work, but im excited to relearn and get back into my imagination

I would always suggest leveling your sounds BEFORE doing any of the things mentioned in this video. Having every sound at the right volume when starting to apply EQs and such will make a massive difference.

The OTT trick was really insane 🔥🔥🔥

This man is an Authority. I have never seen larger headphones. Respect

1:15 you could just use a shelf filter instead of a cut filter to have more control and avoid phase issues.
When you do this sometimes you go from adding “clarity” to completely thinning out your song.

HUGEL brings such authentic Latin House flavor, absolute fire DJ performance

A video where you can actually hear the changes being made

I would say the biggest mistake beginners make is getting into the habit of throwing plugins on things that don't need it. I did that a lot years ago. I see people throw compressors or distortion on the master channel without being aware of what its doing and say its good because that's what people told them. They buy expensive plugins or hardware when a free one works nearly identical, but because they don't listen, they waste money and time. Innovators don't worry what everyone's doing, they do what sounds good to them, regardless if its common practice, cheap hardware, unknown plugins, etc. You need to listen and compare, not take peoples word for it. All that matters is the sound, that's it, but companies try to convince you they have more 'magic', when its usually in your head or a lack of gain matching. I used decapitator for awhile for example, but after properly gain matching it lost a lot of its appeal to me, it still helped, but not as much as I convinced myself. A lot of plugins are like this. Its easy to fool yourself because we tend to associate louder with better.

Those headphones thoooooo...

Out of 6 other videos that I have watched, this is the only one that worked. Thanks for making this.

Champion, again another great video Alex
